This mare has a super disposition, great ridability, nice movement (more hunter than dressage movement). She is 15.3 hands, so I would love to produce a foal with more height and a SUPER jump! I was considering Arpeggio. She is by Walldorf out of a mare that has Domspatz and Abstatz in her pedigree. She is registered Westphalian.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

What a pretty mare! I think you would do better if you decided if you want a hunter or a jumper. The breeding goals are different.

Thanks for the replys! Ok, lets focus on hunter stallions only... She moves very hunter and is super quiet. This will be her first foal. I am already considering Cunningham, Aloha, and Apiro.

Aloha might be interesting with the doubling up on Abstaz....though he is young, might be worth looking into...

She is a lovely mare. You might want to take a look at Ironrule, who is #1 in the U.S. for 3 year olds in Hunter Breeding. He will be standing for 09. He is half TB, and by Ironman who was the #1 HB sire last year, 3rd this year. Rule will be an excellent refining sire.

She is a stunning mare! Of course I have not seen her in person - but I would not pick a "heavier" stallion for her. Walldorf had a lot of bone, and so I'd stay with with something more on the modern side. I would love to see the resulting baby, whatever you choose! :)

You might consider Argosy (Absatz both sides) who has an incredible jump if you're not concerned about approval (his expired) and is producing lovely hunters/jumpers. Or his son, Amadeus, approved ISR/Old. N.A. Amadeus is 1/2 TB.

She's really a lovely mare. Good luck with her.

She also looks like she'd cross very well to Just the Best - "type-wise".

You might want to consider our stallion Beste Gold, he should add some height , and a bit more length of leg, his bloodlines would compliment your mare nicely , and he also has Abundance (by Absatz) in his mareline. His first offspring are hitting the showring under saddle in 2009.

The offspring in our own program with Absatz blood on both sides (from BG and the mares) are some of the nicest all around we have ever bred.

Pretty mare! I would go with known great jumping stallions with TB close up - greater than 40% I'd say - and there are several stallions known for their jump with that percentage blood - and known hunter (as in show record) stallions - several all ready mentioned. She has the movement and the temperment you say - opens the door!

I am curious what hunters have Absatz close up, or multiple times in their pedigree...

( since we don't have a national tracking system, what hunters do you remember that have this blood?)

I am going to cross post on the H/J forum to see what everyone there knows as well,,,,

I would look into breeding her to Idocus. He has produced some lovely hunters, with jump and movement.

Idocus: 27% blood

Apiro: 16% blood

Cunningham: 42% blood

Sir Caletto: 51% blood

and Pasolongo, who someone mentioned: 35% blood

Using the HorseTelex site. Can't look up those stallions whose names have been changed on import to the US.

She wants something bigger - Shine definitely is not going to do that...

I'll second Argosy. I'm slightly biased because I have one on the ground and another on the way. I've been very impressed by my filly. Argosy is also such a wonderful fellow!! He'll definitely add height. Our mare is 16.2-ish, and her filly string tested at 17.2. A bit bigger than we anticipated, but we'll see how she turns out, so far she's amazing!

Aloha has Absatz twice in his pedigree and Federalist has Absatz once in his pedigree. I love the Absatz influence for beautiful hunter movement.

I know Avebury WF would love to be of service! His direct sire line goes to Absatz and his dam carries the fabulous D and R cross. Dekor sired some super conformation hunters BTW, as did Abundance. Adamant's son Colt 45 was a PHBA champion for many years.
Oh, and Avebury's mother Dynasty was a full sister to Cappy Peterson's champion Dynamite. Dynamite was second in the country in hunter breeding as a yearling and then very successful in the hunters and jumpers.
