Or know of any other "Striped" horses like him?
I have never seen another one like him before so it seems like more of a genetic "oops!" rather than a trait that runs in a certain line ...
Very interesting looking for sure! :)

Yes, I have seen him.
The pair is lovely to watch move.

That looks nifty. I wonder if it is an example of chimerism (like that brindle horse in Eques a few years back) if he doesn't pass it on, and it wasn't seen previously. Chimerism is more likely than a random set of mutations.

Ive never seen chimerism or brindling horizontally though. Its always vertical???
Maybe it IS a mutation of the brindle gene

The only way to be sure would be to have parts of him tested. If his blood and hair didn't match etc then that would confirm it. It makes sense for brindling to point to chimerism if we assume horses also have Blaschko's lines. Though in humans the condition is due to mosaicism not chimerism..but still.
Very nice horse. Some day I would love a stripy dressage horse. LOL I am not picky on the way the stripes point either :D

I knew a mustang mare that had striations of fatty deposits like these. Are his colored stripes or are they 3-d, so to speak?

I was wondering the same thing, LaNet is that area flat or "textured" so-to-speak? It looks textured to me but very interesting indeed. What a lovely pair!

Cool looking horse. Don't you think it's got to be a skin mutantion?

In Wellington over the winter this year. He's very nice but I have to say (being totally unaware of who he was at the time) it looked to me that he had a striped tectured sheet placed on him when he was wet and sweaty and then recently removed after he had dried!! She was just walking him around the outside of the arena, not actually showing at the time. I later saw a picture of him and realized he was the same horse. I can imagine it to be somewhat distracting during a test because it is so very unusual. Very nice boy though.

I know this pair. His stripes are due to a genetic condition that produces a kind of 3-D striation pattern/fur pattern. They aren't pigment/color stripes. I don't think his any of his sibs have it (his bloodlines are not unusual) and it's sort of rare. But it clearly doesn't slow him down!
