View Full Version : Okay, bored shoppers... spend my money!

Okay, so I just got a new job and I decided to buy myself a present. My horse isn't huge--he's a 16.1 TB--but he has a WIDE head... he takes a 6" bit. He's dirty in this photo but you get the idea:
http://www.blight.com/~westyp/bo/?l=.&p=2&m=640
He's so dark that he looks GREAT in white, aside from the fact that he has to wear it to be seen--even under lights--during night lessons. :) We fixed the head wagging problem (it was me!) so I'd like to get him a white padded bridle. But it's not that simple. :)
- White padded noseband (flash or not, it doesn't matter)
- White PADDED browband (not the plastic strip... padded)
- White padded crown
- Woven rubber reins
I would love to get this all in one package, and that's the challenge! If not, I will buy whatever parts separately, but I'd prefer not to. Budget? I'd like to keep it under $300.
Anyone??

Hey, well first congratulations on buying a horse and a new job, wow! Are you still out in Briones?
If I were looking for white padded bridles I might look for a high end bridle that is used or discounted on ebay. White is a little "out" now, so I bet you could find a really nice bridle for a good price.
If you really want new do you care if the buckles are brass or silver? If you like brass I like the first one posted from dressage extensions, but I am not a fan of brass. After that the Warendorf bridle I think is supposed to be nice. You can always add padding to the crown if your horse needs it.

I don't really like crank nosebands, either. I know, picky picky :).
These are good suggestions so far and Paula's one from Dover has 3/4 of the criteria...
PP--I moved to Double G Ranch, so yes I am still out in Briones, just at a different barn :).

I love this one and the leather is just as nice as my $500 bridles! *rolling eyes*

Oh BTW, be careful with the white padded ones, the white will scuff after a bit and its HARD to get clean once it gets worn a bit.

Legacy Tack is nice enough to sponsor a dinky local like me. : )
I get so many points towards goods according to how much I sell.
I have a coupon code: KABOOM.
you get 5 bucks off.
I like this bridle:
http://www.legacytack.com/pc/10094/BRIDLE/Ainsley+Classic+Dressage+Snaffle+Bridle.html
That one bridle from dressage extentions is the only one I've ever seen with a padded crown.
You may find that it's a little too much white everywhere, and the extra padding makes the crown piece wider which then smooshes into the ears.
Here is Audrey's rein page. I'm not sure what woven rubbers are though...?
http://www.legacytack.com/c/REIN/Reins.html
Also, she can order pretty much anything. If you see those reins you like but they only come in brown chances are she can order them in black for you.

Oh, with Susie. You are just around the corner from me. Send me a PM if you ever want to hit the trails! I suppose I will be seeing you at the show?
I agree about the white padding and it getting worn quickly. My mare needs a little something to jazz up her plain bay head, I will probably get a fancy browband.
I have a Vespucci bridle I bought for her, they are a nice brand for the $$ and have padded crowns.

I've found a lot of padded crown bridles, but I didn't really think about smooshing his poor little ears. Maybe I should skip the padded crown part... but its so purty... but if it's better for my horse without... and it definitely makes "my bridle" easier to find...
He has a 20 year old white padded Stubben halter, and the padding is scuffed and all that, but he still looks sharp in it. It's unlikely this horse and I will do any recognized showing, so I'm not too concerned about that. This is more for my own enjoyment. :)

Your horse has such a pretty, refined face, I think the white padded bridle will be too much for him, they look good on a really solid chunky face. I know this because I am going through the same thing with my girl, I bought a beautiful padded bridle and it just too overpowering for her face. I agree with Perfect Pony, get something with a fancy browband. JMHO! :)

I have a gorgeous Stubben double bridle that is white padded on the brow and nose bands - but not the crown piece. It also has a straight noseband, not a crank.
It has been with me for many many years and is still going strong (showing FEI). I use it both at home (2x week), and out, and it gets washed every other time I ride in it (lets be honest, I most certainly don't wash my stuff everytime I ride - 4 horses with entirely different wardrobes gets to be too much - I need a groom!).
I have a photo of it on the horse if you would like a PM. I agree with STF - it can get grubby and scuff on the underside if you don't clean it, but it doesn't show on the outside.

Don't know why they don't have one put together for a picture, but I took a chance with it and it's perfect, and the seller is wonderful to work with :]
