Poltoon, Bally Cor -- I know they had babies that got somewhere, but I don't remember who they were bred to. (Two A Day? Wasn't he one of Bally Cor's mates?) What about other mares? Was Nirvana ever bred? Who were The Wexford Lady and Headly Britannia bred to recently?

I would spend my life-savings to get one of her babies (I'd much rather have her but that will never happen )

And the daddy of those babies isn't so bad. He's on the list of contenders for one of my mares.

Welton Gazelle (an advanced eventer herself) had two colts: Catherston Dazzler and Yarlands Summer Song.
The mare Killinghurst Girl had two eventers competing at CCI****, Ginger May Killinghurst and Lord Killinghurst.

All time number one had to be that Irish mare that produced all those Lion horses for Bruce Davidson.
Wasn`t her name Stream Lion, or something like that? Someone here will know all about that mare.

Oh, that's right! I don't recall, though, whether she herself competed.
Hey, Jaguar Mail is the same on top as Melody sire (Ted's grandsire) is on bottom: Best Turn.

Primmore Hill (by Ben Faerie) competed at Badminton and had at least two noteworthy full brothers (by Mayhill): Primmore's Pride and Primmore's Pioneer (stallion who's gone Advanced).

Also M-J Tumbridge used to ride for a farm that tried to exclusively compete mares. They would breed them once at 4 or so, to make sure they were broodmare material, then M-J would compete them, with the intention of retiring them to stud eventually. Here is the story. (http://www.bef.bm/mjtumbridge.htm) Ginger May Killinghurst was one of the mares in their program, although I don't know "the rest of the story" as Andrew Nicholson took over the ride in 2007.

I can speak to Poltroon, as she is buried in my field. Mrs Marra got 5 foals out of her. 2 fillies and 3 colts. Torrance competed two of the colts. I have the only pinto filly/mare (now about 22) retired in my field. She is by Babamist and we showed her as a jumper. She has 6 foals, 3 of which are horses of color (all fillies by 3 different sires Grange Finn Sparrow, Harry the Hat and Mine Lord Prince). That family has been terrific. Mind you we don't ride like Torrance.

Oh, what about Better I Do It and his similarly-named sibling? Are they out of the same mare?

Pwynn, not to hijack, but I just noticed your sig line (been out of the loop with computer problems for too long!).
LOVE IT!

For two great Pony Mares who evented/showjumped with huge success:
The Austalian bred Glenormiston Clementine (Abbeyliex Finbar x Oxenholm Dulcinea) had three daughters: Glenormiston Amelia, Glenormiston Adare, Glenormiston Aislinn...and is in foal for 2009. Clementine has a full sister Glenormiston Dulcinea who has bred some wonderful performance ponies.
and the American Bred: Balius Kerry Blue who bred only one daughter: Stonybrook Blue Chip who has just returned to the breeding shed after a stellar career eventing/foxhunting. Blue Chip has one daughter Stonybrook Bridey O'Shea who is just gettting started on a career of her own.

Big Russ can correct me if this info is wrong...
But citing the All Breed Pedigree Database... (Which can be dicey)
Stream Lion was the dam of:
Eagle Lion
Regent Lion
Pirate Lion
Trump Lion
Lion King
Kara Lion-The only Filly
and
BALLYNAHINCH DURROW
I keep hearing that the cornerstone of Bruce's operation now is that he has foals/horses out of Iggy's sister...Diamond Lion. She is not listed on the pedigree site, so likely there are more and the website is incomplete...that wouldn't surprise me in the least.
But I have seen Chesterland's Knockout (Out of Diamond Lion and by High Scope) schooling at home and he is impressive. I can't wait to see him come up the levels.

Is she one to watch as a brooder? How interesting that Stream Lion had so many colts. I wonder what is in Jam's future.
[And thanks, frugalannie.]

Sharon White has bred several of her competition mares:
Ready About (Pedigree Unknown, CCI****) had a filly by Aaron's Gold who should be coming 5, and a colt by Reputed Testamony who should be coming 4.
Imageleaf (OTTB-Pedigree Unknown, competed CCI***) had a filly by Primmore's Pioneer who should be coming 3.
Wild Rose (by Babamist, out of a well known broodie Supersticious Rose, advanced HT) had a filly by Welton Adonis who should be coming 3.
Magic Socks (by Castle Magic, out of Mellick Misla, competed at advanced HT) had a colt by Reputed Testamony who should be coming 3.
McGinty (Connemara cross by Alladin's Denver, competed through OI) had two colts by another Connemara but I don't remember which one.
In addition, her current advanced mount The King's Spirit has a daughter running around at Training level (bred as a three-year-old, don't know the sire is, as I believe she came from England bred). She also bred her CCI** mare Sailing Falcon, but the foal died at about a month of age.
Sharon doesn't really breed anymore, after losing her beloved Ready About and her 2006 foal to an uterine artery rupture while foaling, and nearly losing Imageleaf to a bad foaling. Magic Socks also died while foaling in 2007. :(:(:(:cry::cry:
It's a tough game.
