There will be a Trail Ride to benefit Mike Miller, my farrier, on Sunday December 7th in Warrenton, VA. Mike was injured while shoeing a horse and will be unable to work for an extended period of time. Should be a good time, and all proceeds go directly to Mike. Hope to see some of you there.

• Five-mile, marked course with about 40 optional small jumps (Horses must be able to cross stream)
• Additional optional course of natural jumps will be available at the end of the trail ride course
• Start at your choice of time between 9 and 11 am (Must complete the course by 1:00 pm)
• Advance registration would be appreciated.

I'll be there and I am bringing a crew. Make SURE to disribute this thru Stephanie Malevich's list (ask anybody - Wateryglen, etc.) and thru Bull Run Hunt list. I'm sure there's others, but those are really super active.

Looks like frigid weather for Sunday -- wonder if you guys might make the course 'available' to us local folks who were hoping to use this thing as a schooling day later in the week?? I mean, it'll still be marked, right? And the jumps will be in good shape, etc. ? I'm delighted to still pay my bit to the injured farrier, but I was planning to bring 4-6 horses and students, and I doubt I'll be able to get many-any to agree to come if its 30 degrees and blowing snow (like the NBC weatherman says today, Wednesday.)
Let us know -- here and-or privately.
Plus, I'm happy to run another bit in the newspaper stating that - that Acorn will allow for private schooling by local riders over their pre-laid course and jumps thru xxx date for another $40 donation to Mike Miller's fund. (that is, if that would be a true statement, naturally!)

I was planning on going but will there be a "snow date"? I don't mind riding in the cold as long as y'all don't mind if I look like the Michelin Man. But like HR said - the weather looks bad for that day.

Hey, that's right up the road from where I board! Cool! Like others have said, if there is a snow date, I could possibly go, but I know that nobody from my barn is going to want to go and/or trailer me up there if the weather is crappy like they're calling for on Sunday.

Will someone who knows the people ask them if we can do a snow date or an extension for schooling??? (I don't know the Ash Knoll folks)

I am not actually running the trail ride, just helping to get the word out. I agree the weather forecast for Sunday doesn't look good. So, I have contacted the organizers, and as soon as I hear back from them I will post an update. Thanks everyone for your interest in attending.

Tazzie: I am thinking about going and I have room in my trailer. Are you anywhere near Nokesville? If it is really awful weather I won't go, but it would be good for me and my chubby horse to get out and get some exercise!

Well heard back from the organizers and it is still a go for Sunday. Part of the ride is on a neighbor's property, and they only have permission to use it Sunday. So if it doesn't happen on the 7th, there won't be a ride. You can start the ride anytime between 9am - 11am. For updates the day of in case you think they might cancel, call (703) 895-6565 or (703) 895-2388.

Would it be okay to register on the day? With the weather so iffy, I think a lot of people won't want to pre-register.
