Wed I just picked up my new horse. :D She is an OTTB, but has been a broodmare for the last 1 1/2 years. She is a dark bay (with her winter coat shes black, no brown points), with a small star and a white heel. Her registred name is Winning Blush. I cant name her Blush because I know a horse named Blush, and Whinnie doesnt fit her (nor do I like the name).
I will post pictures ASAP, but she is starting to get called "the mare" and it I dont want it to become her name! So any suggestions welcome!

Maybe Rose or something like that having to do with the color of a blush? (Sorry, I'm kind of awful with names!)

Please post pictures and something about her personality- can't possibly name her without that.

I will be getting pics tomorrow. :D
Shes got a brain, but definatly acts like a 3 yrs old (totally green and not sure what to think of all these new thngs). When I look at her I dont think shes 6, I think shes 3. Shes pretty but an elegant name wouldnt suit her. She seems almost like shes a teenager! lol
Rose was actually one of the first names that came to mind but it seemed too old for her. I have a feeling naming her is gona be hard :(

How about Rouge as another word for blush? or from her pedigree I came up with Juliet or something to do with Romeo and Juliet.
Another train of thought would be something to do with rose as in wine because they are frequently called blush wines.

I was also thinking along the lines of make-up brands. I do like Max Factor. Or maybe you could go with a make-up jingle...like "Maybe it's Maybelline" or however you spell it...call her "May". I really can't think of other make-up right now. Maybe "All Made Up" or "All Dolled Up" or "Playing Dress-up" (since she acts like a child)
Playing on the "rose" thing. Maybe "Ran for the Roses" although I seriously doubt she ran in THE derby. I'm sure her trainers were hoping she would take them there. Maybe some other play on the garland of roses..."Dreaming of Roses". Good luck! Let us know what you decide.

I like going with the wine theme--how about Cabernet? Are we going for a show name or a barn name here?

I love it myself! Her barn name could be Nicole (for Nicole Kidman), Zsa Zsa (for Zsa Zsa Gabor), Can Can (yes, silly, but really perfect-- the Moulin Rouge is where the Can Can became famous, and the dance is a sexy, seductive dance, how perfect for a dark bay mare!) Also, Moulin Rouge is french for Red Windmill, which also ties in the "win" from her pedigree.

I've got nothing to add, I just wanted to say that every time I see the title of this thread, I think it says "Got a new horse and she needs a mane!!!"

Well I still dont have very good pics, I ran to the barn before work to get them and it was kinda dark. Im going to the barn tomorrow during the day and ill get more pics!!!
And I have decided to call her Puma! The barn owner started calling her that or said Jaguar because shes cat-like. Puma seems to fit her well but... I still need a show name!!!!
I lke the ones with a spin on blush.

She could be Rose (with a thingy over the e so it is Ros ay, like the wine, for Blush, which they call the pink wines).
Clairet (which is a french blush bordeux, though in the US it is darker red), then Clarire for short)
