I am losing my Shire's 11hand 20year old mini babysitter.
We need another babysitter/pasturemate for him asap. Must be a SANE, SAFE horse - no cribbers or other vices (he picks up on everything) Must be gentle with other horses! He does NOT defend himself.
Ideal to also be a non rider guest/husband horse.
GELDINGS ONLY PLEASE.
Central Virginia, 500 acre farm.
Vet references and a farm visit are welcomed.
Please pm me asap!!!
Mini goes tomorrow!!!!!

Did you see my post about the Fair Hill horses, maybe you can work something out with them.

Is Neighland's gelding still available? Maybe he'd be a good choice.

We had a 10 yo Belgian gelding delivered 2 nights ago. He is a short term lease until we can find our forever pasturemate AND trail horse.
This guy was pulled out of a pasture and has had very little human interaction. And at 2300lbs a bit of a challenge! :eek:Don't think ever groomed. Wasn't sure what the stall was all about when I went to take him in for breakfast!
He is good with my Shire which is what I need. Would however, like to have something we could ride.
So we are still looking for that special horse that someone has taken really good care of and just wants to find him a good home.
As before - gelding, safe and sane on the ground and on the trails for a beginner, draft or draft cross, but would consider other big guys if the right horse.

Long term lease or giveaway draft or draft cross gelding wanted for
1. safe, sane pasturemate for my 6 yo Shire gelding
2. safe, sane guest trail horse.
3. Must have undersaddle and trail experience and be handled on a regular basis.
Located on 500 acre farm in Central VA.
Vet references and farm visit encouraged
We have a leased Belgian that is babysitting my Shire now, but he has had very little handling and -0- saddle work. So we are still looking for a forever horse.

Hi Rebmik,
We merged your new Giveaways thread submission with your existing thread, as it pertains to the same horse quest.
Please post updates or the occassional "bump" post to this thread instead of starting new threads, in order to avoid duplicates and to keep your info in one place.
Thanks and good luck!

I have a shire/tb 3 y.o gelding that is ABSOLUTELY the quietest horse you will ever meet. Safe, sane, etc. I raised his mother, and raised him also training his shire sire. He already stands 17.3 hands but he is a true gentleman. Email for more details..

Is there a specific reason you won't take a mare? I have a 5 year old Belgian/cross mare, absolutely adorable tri-colored paint who is safe and sane and needs a job. She lives with mares and geldings, isn't mareish at all, no vices, broke on flat and over small fences, trail rides. Very easy to handle, our's is just not the right place for her.

The other boys here just get too fruity and I really hate dealing with a mare in heat. There is one geratric mare here at the farm that will go into heat if any type of trailer pulls in the farm. She went into heat when I put my manetamer on my Shire, guess she thought it was another horse:confused:
I had a draft mare cross that was like you are describing, but this mare here has put a really bad taste in my mouth!

Were you able to find the draft or draft cross yet? There are always a ton (no pun intended) at Another Chance for Horses rescue in Pennsylvania. They typically come from the Amish and are very well broke.
