Wait a minute Eggy and JSwan...in the enclosed indoor? Cows?

A few years ago I sent one of my horses to my old dressage trainer.

Nice barn - but they also had team penning competitions in the indoor.

One day I'm riding in the arena and I noticed a hole in the wall. Pretty high up.

I ride over and stare at it a second - and realize it's the shape of a cow's hoof.

That must have been one wild team penning competition.

SLC shouldn't have taken that left turn at Albuquerque!

A hoof thru the wall? I wonder how that cow came out of that.

Team penning is known for being good fun, but not always for good cowmanship, being more of a slam and bang type activity.;)
Handling cattle like that would get you fired or not asked back for real ranch work, although I have seen some places and cowboys that think that is the way to work cattle.
They end up working alone, most everyone else suddenly too busy to go help there.

The same with horse training, or even raising kids, where some don't use much good sense.
You either are born with good sense or not.:(

Ok, so I've just spent the last two hours reading this thread. It's taken me so long to get through it because of all of the times I have had to stop to regain composure so that I could continue. You guys are freaking hysterical. I would be lying if I said I wasnt half tempted to write a small article of crazy-fiction just to see what the reactions would be-lol. I have so enjoyed this BB so far. Thanks for the thrills!

I have it from a good source that someone is sorting pet cows today in an enclosed area. Apparently one can get strap-on horns for the Verhans.

silly egon, of course when you are ordering a custom saddle every year, you can add select options to the new one. Bernanado was happy to add a horn to pommel! So she can bleep it and clear the arena...oh not that kind of horn?

I understand the Spirig from last year was pony sized and specially fitted with manure resistant stirrups!

BernarnDOH is TRES AMAZING!!

While he is fitting your saddle, he will also do your colours, read the bumps on your head and whip up a gourmet brunch.

Ugh, I hate when my brunch gets whipped. I prefer Natural Brunchmanship.

Of course everyone knows that the European masters don't do Brunch at all.

That is so..... well ..... American!

It's petit dejeuner then off to tack up the lusitano and leg yielding down the lane to find a little cow to gather up and bring home.

Are there no cow-tippers in Ohio?

You have to tip cows?
What percentage? Is it based on taste, service or whether they return home on their own?

....CatOnLap off to form a search party for slc.

Someone was last seen jumping the neighbour's fence and mingling with strange cows. Do we urgently need a tranquilizer gun?

Perhaps our missing poster is busily training her special cattle dog (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15tJWGktx_U&feature=related)?

Seriously though. I hope things are well with slc2. I know she has some severe allergy/asthma problems and this is the worst time of year for it in her region.

Do not worry about your slc. She is safe and comfortable here with us. All we ask is for the secret recipe for silage. Mmmmmm so good. No-- much better than good, its orgasmoooic. So please, if you ever want to see your friend post again, send over the secrets, or post them here. One of our agents will contact you further..

We trained border collies with a top trialer.
His wife has a yorkie.
His goats tended to escape, goats just do that and, with a kennel full of award winning border collies, that yorkie is the dog he sent to get the goats back.

Seriously, any dog can chase stock, but if one has inherited good herding genes, it doesn't matter what breed or size it is, it probably can handle the job with just a little direction.
It is neat to see.

As for slc2, I too hope all is well, personally and/or with her computer.

Silage, Silage....hey, T1, maybe you can start a thread on the secret silage recipe, and raise the money to ransom SliC?

Try the FWP office - usually they have someone over there with an arsenal. At least here in Montana they do, anyway.

Hope you caught her - why do animals always, always wait until the middle of a big storm to go for an adventure?

Best of luck!

Mountain Girl, Welcome!

A hint for you though, take a look at the date on the 1st post, this topic's been going on a loooong time. I won't get into the tortuous storyline concerning the OP (Original Poster, that is)

But there probably never was any emergency, not really.

Jeeez...Where have I been...

I have missed this SLCwreck and can hardly catch up (or stop snorting -oh -is snorting somehow bovine related?). Maybe snorting is equine related and this takes it back to our favorite subject (hey, mods -NOW it is horse related).

You guys have all the fun but I don't think I can stomach (and I only have one) reading all 15 pages of this thread!

Time to shoot a dart into this thread as the emergency has long since been resolved. ;)
