View Full Version : Voice Mail I received last night from a very annoyed mother...

My mother is one of those conservative Texans. Sweet as pie.

Once a week I stay in Dallas and she is gracious enough to take care of whatever horses I have on her property at that given time.
Right now I only have my Booms, who has been out of work for several months now due to a badly bruised foot. (the actual bones, P1, P2...)
He is in his stall with run attached. The farm donkey is Booms' babysitter.

Bored children act out. lol.
I was out for some yummy Sushi last night and I checked my voice mail. Here is what I heard from my mother. (all said in a very annoyed tone)

Hey, um...I just want to let you know I think your horse is a PIECE OF SH*T!! A PIECE OF SH*T! (her voice became louder and louder towards the end of the sentence. She kind of yelled the bad words)
You ought to see what he's done. He pulled all the blankets off of the wall and into his stall and pooped and peed all over them. And it’s a real mess. I just wanted to let you know that because when you get home these things have got to be moved I guess somewhere else. Because he’s an ornery, a**hole, bored horse. I’m over here trying to clean all of this sh*t up. Bye.

I was about rolling on the floor with laughter by the end of the voicemail.
I wish you guys could hear it.
And my Mother was not really annoyed as she sounded. She kind of chuckled at the end of the message.
The blankets hang on the next stall over. Boo must have worked really hard all day long to conquer the task.

I called and asked my mother if she made him wear the dunce cap. When he's silly or a jerk he wears the cone.

and here is Boo's babysitter. Bob.

Sounds like you need to fire the babysitter since grandma is upset with his behavior .

ha ha ha ha. That is a funny story.

Donkeys are a bad influence on horses. I have one too. Everything on the place has to be "donkey proofed." Horse blankets are his favorite bitches. If one is hanging within biting distance, he invariably grabs it and then drags it around the paddock, stomps on it, and sometimes poops on it. They are evil little geniuses!

Very funny.

I covet Bob.

Pissed off in a Texas accent is always fun to listen to.

Since Bob is clearly the root of all evil, and will no doubt inspire your horse to further naughty deeds, you must send Bob to me at once! :D

When I saw the Bob and Boo photo, all I could think of is Bob looking at the camera saying, "Yeah, I killed him. He would not leave me alone so I took care of the problem."

or, "Nobody ever suspects the donkey."

He's a good donkey. The best kind actually because he's really shy.
I picked him up from some cowboys that used him for roping practice.
So he doesn't get in touching distance of us. He stays at about 10 feet unless you have a treat in which case he stands on the tips of his toes an stretches his neck out as far as it will go.

I have a feeling it was all Kaboom's doing. 100% of it. He's passive aggressive like that and won't tell you what he's really thinking to your face. He waits until the coast is clear.

I think I might have to pass this on to MY mom. Since she is the caregiver of my old guy and his old pal, she would totally appreciate this.

I still crack up over the stories she calls and tells me occasionally. My favorite still leaves the hysterical image of fatty Neigh and fatty Fury getting spooked while in the same stall and trying to bolt out the back door at the same time...she said they kinda got stuck for a second at their fat butts and then kinda popped out the other side.

Thanks for the laugh.

I have no donkeys and my horses do this on a regular basis when I am SOOOO goofy (or rushed or...) as to hang their bedspreads on their doors...

Very funny

I miss my donkey, they are such characters- sooooo smart and toooo smart for their own good!

That voicemail sounds like something I would leave. I wonder what my neighbors think of me sometimes when I yell out the back window to my sister's horse when she's being obnoxious "Cheeseburgers! You'd be a great cheeseburger!".

Ahhhh but we can't imagine life without them though...

I sent this story to my mom. She emailed me back and said she laughed so hard she made her dogs come running to the room to see what was wrong with her.

I am still laughing out loud as I read this, even though I listened to the vm on your phone at sushi that night!!! I can still remember the tone of your mom's voice and how she emphasized and kept repeating the words "Piece of SH$T" ... That is seriously the funniest message I have ever heard. You have to figure out a way to post it somewhere so people can hear it.

I am days from achieving the dream of my own 5 acre farm, we may put the offer in tomorrow. I am saving the picture of Bob to further torture my husband. He DOES NOT picture himself the gentleman farmer. And I have pummeled him with my fists screaming "This is my dream!" Can't wait to ask for a mini donkey.

Oh, and if you think Bob is cute you will just have to get some goats too for your little Farmette. Congrats on "buying the farm".
