Ellen at Victory Rose TBs in Vacaville, CA asked me to spread the word about this gelding who is looking for a new career. She and the horse's owners have done right by this gelding, and now the horse is ready to move on. For information contact Ellen at 707-678-6580.

This is from Ellen:

"The other is a 7 year old (Marv's Marvel) gelding that I've had since he was born.
He's been a wonderful race horse, lightly raced because his owner was always
careful to not abuse the horse's talent. He had an accident last May where
he hit his front tendon with his hind foot and it created a bowed tendon.
It was just heart breaking as the horse had always been so completely sound
and was just a grand horse to race. The owner has given him all this time
off to be sure the tendon was healed well enough to start with ground work
before he asked me to find the boy a good home. Obviously we're going to be
pretty careful about who gets him but I figure you're in a position to find
the kind of home he deserves. He's about 16.2 hands, very solid and broad.
He has the kindest, quietest, disposition you could ask for. He always
acted like a pony horse on race day. Holds his weight a bit too well. He's
7 years old and only started 14 times. He's made almost $100k in those few
starts. We scanned the tendon a couple of days ago and he's ready to start
under saddle but no jumping for another 4 months.
Let me know if you'd like more info on either of these boys. I'm enclosing
photos of Marv. He's a hairy, fat, ball of butter right now but I guarantee
he's an athlete with an astonishingly light, fluid way of traveling.

Wow.. that IS a great story! Good for them for treating him right. I think it's great that the good management and treatment of the horse rewarded them with so much in winnings as well. And that they afterwards took care of him and are now willing to GIVE him to the right home since he did so well for them.
Awesome story. I hope he finds the perfect home!
