Hi All,
I was at Lamplight at the AEC in september on the Saturday (yes it rained and no I wasn't competing). Nearly EVERY person at the show was wearing really cool rain boots which I really REALLY want. I did ask someone who was wearing them but forgot to write it down. I know there is a copy I have seen in the catalogues but these were the original ones (I don't want the knock-offs). They are tall brown leather boots with two horizontal leather bands around the leg and waterproof... Does anyone know what they are?
Thanks, Erin

Dubarry's! Or some variation of that spelling. :) They are an Irish brand and kind of not common here in the US.

The real boots are the Dubarry's, the fakes are the Dublin's that are in some of the catalogs. You can only get the real ones at some of the big shows like Rolex and online www.dubarry.us and I think there may be a few stores that carry them.
I was at the AEC and the boots were every where. They boots were a must that weekend. We would have been better off with snorkles and swim fins out on course. I already had my pair of Dubs, I got them after I saw them at Rolex and decided they were worth the investment. The copy is tempting but when you see them up close they are nothing compaired to the real thing. My feet have never been so happy, I literally live in them. If you don't have the funds for the originals ask Santa for them or save up your dough!

These are the knockoffs, which she doesn't want. The real ones are Dubarry, I have them and they are awesome.

They are much more than rainboots, they clean up easily and beautifully, I wear mine to the office in wet weather, in snow sometimes and frequently with sportswear, as well as riding in them. Their real value is in the Gore-tex lining though, I stood outside in steady rain for 2 days watching a clinic in 90+ heat and humidity and my feet were the only part of me that was cool and comfortable. That feature alone made me buy a Gore-tex rain sheet for the horse too, I wanted him to be as comfortable as I was. And I can stand on my feet all day long, walk cross country courses or whatever and they are comfortable! When I was buying mine someone said they were the best boots she had ever owned and I agree completely.

Wow!
These Dubarrys are popular! It was Dubarry - thank you. Not the knock offs at Dover. The knock offs aren't Gore-Tex lined and Dubarry uses a special leather too (I've already ordered some from their website:winkgrin: - I know, but I deserve it! don't you?

I forgot to mention that all the boots I saw on feet at the AEC were the real Dubarrys apart from one (which you could spot a mile off with a bigger foot, and a much less flattering profile and a funny leather tone) - just justifying spending the extra on the real deal!

I LOVE my Dubarrys. Mine are 5 years old, still hose off like new, and I wear them year round, pretty much constantly. Only barn boots I've ever owned where i can wipe them down with saddle soap and go out to dinner wearing them. I'll never own another pair of foul weather boots.
And the charming british man in his little tweed hacking jacket standing in his bucket of water serving me champagne really just was the icing on the cake...what buying a pair of $400 boots should be like!

I LIVE in my Dubarry's! They are cool in the summer, warm in the winter, my feet are totally dry and comfy. I do chores in them, everything. They are going on three years old now and clean up great. One of the best investments I've ever made.
