so in a bit of humor...
a TN DOA guy is here today buying some hay and he starts talking about fire ants...turns out that 50,000 bales of hay were sent back across the border at Memphis for being fire ant infested last year...yikes :eek:...mostly in round bales but some squares...
he then told Calvin that they had tested 15 loads of our hay unknown to us....and they had been so nice that he drove up to get some for his own...that was kinda cool...;)
but 50,000 bales of hay...mercy...how much came across in pickup trucks with gooseneck cowboys that they cannot inspect...??
now to the funny part.... you will have to guess the the testing protocol...
you won't believe it.....

I'm not real bright, and I do live near Memphis.
What do you mean about turning the hay back at the border in Memphis? Where did it come from in the first place? Did they use the river ag station?
This inquiring mind, who hates vienna sausages and fire ants equally, would like to know, so I can avoid wherever it is the infested hay originates when I buy.

Maybe the ants would run away from Spam?
I think that's hilarious that vienna sausages are used to detect fire ants in hay!

hello vineyridge
hope this quick reply works...yes the border at Mempis is responsible for making sure that hay from the quarentined areas in the south do not make it up north...and all truckers must stop at the scales...if it makes it thru and has fire ants the seller is responsible to pick it up,refund the money and haul it home

My ex FIL was a spam addict.
If only I had known that before I married into the family. Explains so much.
Sheesh.
