He had it all, gaits, jump, incredible temperament - easy going, but very willing to please. http://www.stonecropfarm.com/West_photos.html

Oh, that is awesome! I have not seen that video before! My boy's damsire is West Coast (and looks SO much like him with the dark color, white hinds, funky blaze), and I was fortunate enough to meet the big guy a year before he died. He was truly a gentleman, and seemed to know he was supposed to show off for us in the indoor :D

I always loved Westie. I had him as a 2 yr old before Judy bought him. He had the very best mind. I remember one day when we had a horrible storm so we brought in the entire herd of young stallions into the indoor. Most were new to the USA & we hadn't really gotten to know them well. They were being idiots as you'd expect, running & bucking. All except for this big black colt who just stood still in the middle of the indoor & looked at the others like they were crazy. That was Westie. He just took everything in stride. Was always great about being handled, bathed, anything I wanted to do with him. I was sick when he died of colic. I know it about killed Judy too.
He was special.

Wow, what a loss. You can truly see what kind of temperment he had, he was a wonderful boy.

We viewed a West Coast mare several years ago as an investment prospect and she was a FANTASTIC hunter mover. Super type, refined, etc. Black with chrome. Just stunning. I was sad to learn he was deceased as it certainly made me want to breed to him!!!
Is there any frozen?

What a lovely video! He sure was lovely that's for sure. ALways wondered about him, there is a mare near me who is sired by him that is just lovely and has thrown some incredible foals.

Love that video.
Whitfield Farm, Westie died of a heart attack, not colic. It was about instantaneous, no suffering.
My Westie gelding is 14 and I love him to death. He is the sweetest thing. He was badly injured as a two year old, so just does Training/First Level dressage and the students love him.

I don't believe there is any frozen left from Westie, but Judy does have a son that she is bringing along.

Thanks Fairview, that video of West Coast is wonderful, what a nice horse, what a powerful movement and jump. A real treat. They should all be that nice!

I saw him for the first time on their newly done site, and he's quite lovely! I hope he turns out to be everything Judy hopes for.

Oh Shea'smon, I'm glad to hear that he didn't have to suffer. I know he enjoyed life with Judy, she loved him so.
