Just trying to gather some information on some of the boys at Celle...so any input regarding temperament, rideability, offspring (good, bad or indifferent), nicks, conformation - all the general questions answered basically! :) Some of them are too young to have get undersaddle but any opinions are welcome & much appreciated!
TIA!
De Janeiro
Robespierre
Belafonte
Balletmeister
Cranach
Also, if any of them has been sold on from Celle, that is also of interest, too!

Belafonte has been sold. However, Classic Sires was advertising his semen, so maybe you can still get it. Check with Kevin.

I've heard Cranach produces more huntery types. I don't know if he is still with Celle either.

Thank you!
I did a bit of digging and learned that Cranach was sold through the PSI auction a few years ago...he had had an abcessed tooth that caused some bridling problems...poor guy!

I really liked De Janeiro at his licensing...very nice gaits, decent jump and beautiful to look at.
However, he doesn't seem to be very popular in Germany, so I suspect he isn't producing as they hoped. He is the same age as Rascalino, so although completely different bloodlines, he is probably being over-shadowed by him. And those are also fairly heavy bloodlines, so he may have beefed up since I saw him as a 2.5 year old. I have gone to a bunch of foal shows over there and I don't think I have ever seen a De Janeiro foal. Maybe Alexandra or Kareen can help with that.

I thought Robespierre has poor semen and was sold as a riding horse. I think he might have been sold to an Italian rider and now showing PSG???
Balletmeister may be your best bet of the ones you listed.
I am curious, however, how you came to your list.

mmt- happy to share my logic in asking about these fellows...certainly not a secret. I am just kicking myself for not having bought some Waikiki semen when it was still available for export! :sigh:
I really liked our Rosentau foals but wouldn't mind a bit more trot & better (quicker) hind leg that is a possibility with the Warkant/Eiger I damline. His frozen is not super pricey and I have heard that there are nice foals up in Canada as a result.
Belafonte - I like that damline, plain & simple - but I don't mind 'old fashioned' types.
De Janeiro - ditto the damline.
Cranach - intrigued me from the get go for some of our hunter jumper type mares...
Balletmeister - more of an idle question about the foals...there are some interesting possibilities as he is out of Wolkentanz I & II's full sister, so I am curious...but wary. :)

Robespierre is still at Celle. http://landgestuetcelle.de/cms/front_content.php?client=1&lang=2&idcat=16&idart=538
I think you're thinking about another dark colored R-line stallion. His name escapes me right at the moment.

maybe Reprimeur?

Yep - it was Reprimeur. Oops - Poor Robiespierre - almost "tarred."
For a quicker hind leg, there should be quite a few "W" line options and some others.

Thanks for clarifying on the Reprimeur/Robespierre...I had forgotten about Reprimeur going on to a sport career.
I'm still hoping to hear some input on the list from anyone who might have seen these guys at some point. Or their offspring, for that matter.
mmt - the W line is very tempting as we have a bit of Weltmeyer in the tank and have had very nice success with it...I adore my 2004 by him and *fingers crossed* we'll rebreed his dam this spring. But there are some qualities that we really like with Rosentau (who has World Cup II as his 2nd damsire) that make Robespierre so intriguing. Plus he is a chestnut which makes me even happier!
One of the things that is beginning to concern me though is how much Absatz is too much? I did a bit of hypo/test breeding on the computer and have some major concerns...
Say we breed Alexis to De Janeiro... http://www.sporthorse-data.com/dbtestmating.php?&sireid=10511171&damid=10451787 That is more than a bit of Absatz thrown in, don't you think?
Or one of the rising 3 year olds... http://www.sporthorse-data.com/dbtestmating.php?&sireid=10511171&damid=10451760
Hmmmm...lots to think about in the coming months.

Re Primeur was given back because he did not get enough (or any?) mares in foal. He ist still a stallion and in my area ridden by a very good young lady.
He was my first choice when I saw him for one of my mares. Had all I wanted for her. Luckily she foaled End of april so I had already heard about the rumours on RePrimeur and did not breed to him.

There is a Cranach in the Nov auction.
Here is one Robespierre gelding I sold to NC (and owner lowes him)

Thank you Linda for the link to the video of the Robespierre...he is certainly lovely! Would you have any idea of his pedigree beyond Akzent II? Regardless, I enjoyed watching him! :)
Thanks!

You might broaden your list to look at Hochadel or Don Crusader. I have really liked some of their offspring that I have seen, as well as the stallions themselves.

Actually, on youtube I wrote the wrong line :) (his new owner knew before, lol) he is Robespeirre/Lanthan/Absatz
Not sure if Hochadel is available via frozen, and Don Crusador certainly not...H e is (much) better now, but first year was not so good (often so with the young boys). Ofcourse, one could ask Celle if they would try to refreeze him.
For a quicker hindleg, I again, lol, agree with Marne about the Weltmeyer, I have also found that with Londonderry. Sure, not EVERY stallion can help every mare, or it would be too easy,.
Belissimo as well!! plus beauty and ridability.

Thanks Linda! :)
I will kick the 'project' around for the next few months as we won't start breeding until April. Londonderry is off the list due to Lauries and the jumping talent...but the Warkant/Eiger influence is there in Robespierre...with a dose of World Cup II!
Weltmeyer is set aside for our leggier ladies who like frozen...after all, I can't complain much about the result - as he is my type of ride and only looks a bit like papa! :)
Any additional input is always welcome!
TIA!

I was going to add that Robespierre is still at Celle as I saw him last week. He is much nicer in the flesh as I never cared for him in the photos, though I only got to see him in the stall.
We have a Rosentau mare that we adore. She is from a mare linebred on Absatz (probably inbred if you want to be correct about it) and she got an overall 8 on her jumping at MPT. She has super temperament and I know that is from Rosentau as her half sister from Longchamp is much hotter/nervous. I remember reading in one of the old Hano magazines about Robespiere at his performance testing and how his character was superb.
Balletmeister was being worked on the lunge when we were there and he looked nice. Powerful moving horse! No idea what he is throwing ect though.

You know, it's three years later and I'm STILL depressed my Lessing/Banter/Akzent I mare (note similarity in bloodlines to Linda's gelding) lost her Robespierre early on. One dose is all it took too. I wanted that foal in the worst way.
I had heard from very reliable sources in Germany that Robespierre is spicier than his Da, but I never heard if that held true for his get. Didn't matter to me with this mare though.
I've still got one dose of Rosentau in the tank, but I'm not sure I'll ever get back around to using it on her...her offspring jump so well I want to see what happens when bred to a real jumper stallion.

Hello,
Thought I would give my two cents about Robespierre. I bought the gelding Linda sent you the link for and he is absolutely fabulous!!! We just went to our first show this weekend and he scored two 68%'s at T-4. Very well behaved and sensible. I've only been riding him for a few months and we've already been to three clinics. He's forward, but not hot, very comfortable, and light to the aids without over reacting.
I'm sold on Robespierre and I'm breeding my own Hano mare to him in '09.

cnenfuego - Thank you SO much for the feedback!!!
It is silly to say this, but I am entranced by Robespierre and have been since he was licensed! Perhaps it is because he is chestnut...I am a not-so-in-the-closet color breeder, I guess!
How tall is your guy? Do you think he has finished growing? Any idea of how tall his dam is/was?
Thanks again for the input and good luck with your guy in the ring! :)

Claudias new gelding is 16.3 hands. His dam Lilly is 16.2.
The breeding on Robespierre is certainly a good one!!
And Claudia, congrats again!! you should post the photo link ;) very impressive!

Would anyone have (or have seen/ridden) any Federweisser offspring over the years? I know he was sold to Czech after coming up CEM positive but am curious...
The same question also applies to Wanderbursch II.
Any general info is greatly appreciated!
TIA.
