For those that are interested and don't have much else to do on a lazy weekend.... :D Neumunster is live streaming all of the events!!! There is a lot that has already happened, but there is a lot going on (including the auctions). Go to www.clipmyhorse.de (http://www.clipmyhorse.de) and then click on the Trakehner link (very obvious I promise).

Wish I understood what they were saying lol. Or at least enough to understand the numbers.

With the USD back to a very good exchange at 1.25 towards the Euro, there is a lot of USA buyers bidding.

I think with the way the US economy is right now it is down right un-American to be putting USA dollares in the German economy.

Well, 3 mares, 4 riding horses and 2 approved stallions have been bought by USA clients.

Do you know if the broodmare, Prince Thatch x Hohenstein, got bought by a US customer?

Aurum, As a German breeder I am sure you are happy to see US buyers bidding in the German market. I have been drooling over the mating of Salome to Latimer ever since I heard of it, but don't see me asking about that foal unless our US economy does a drastic turn around.

If it bothers people so much about people buying horses outside of the US, why don't you find out who bought these horses and ask them? Why don't you harangue people whose business it is to buy horses in Germany (and elsewhere) specifically to re-sell them here?

trakmom,

Salome was bred to Hirtentanz, not Latimer as Latimer was gelded. But I think the choice is as good.

It doesn't exactly give me the warm and fuzzies when I read that Americans bought the two lowest priced Trakehner stallion of the lot. That's all the ATA needs.... less quality! I wonder who the purchasers were.....?

Aurum... YUMMY, I'm planning my own Hirtentanz foal in a few years when my yearling is old enough to breed.

siegi - I know that Darren C and David Beattie bought the two stallions - I would presume that Darren bought for a client, but have no idea. As for the quality of the stallions - I know that there were many good deals to be had this year apparently so I don't assume that the lowest priced stallions were sub par. But then I also didn't see either one of them go so I also don't assume that they were great. ;) Of the few that I saw go my favorite was the second highest selling one (Delikat) - put him on my list of horses to keep track of for the future.

Along with the market, it would also seem that the trakehner youngsters that are geered towards jumping tend not to bring the fancy prices, while not reflecting upon their quality at all. Right now it would seem brave folks are swimming against the sterotype to buy and breed jumping trakehners--maybe soon they will be rewarded and through their efforts, and others like them, "trakehner" and "jumper" will be seen as one and the same. ;-)

Here is the catalogue to look at, so you can see which stallion is which pedigree etc.

With the world trade economy right now it is quite normal that the prices were not as high as in the former years. I do not think that a good price must be associated with no good quality.

Aurum, Agree about Salome and Hirtentanz. I think Salome is so lovely and has such a nice pedigree. Drat this economy!
