Anyone within driving distance of Boston looking for a lovely OTTB? Or maybe a couple of lovely OTTBs? :)

For the third consecutive year, CANTER New England is very pleased to be hosting the Suffolk Downs Showcase (http://www.canterusa.org/newengland/showcase.htm)at the track on Sunday, October 26, from 9 AM-12 PM.

The Showcase is not an auction. It's a chance for buyers to come see multiple horses for sale at Suffolk in the same place, at the same time. The racing meet wraps up in just a couple of short weeks, and trainers are gearing up to leave NOW - there are lots and lots of horses needing new homes, and the prices are right!

Click here (http://www.canterusa.org/newengland/showcase.htm) to learn more about the Showcase, and see the current list of horses being sold by their trainers at Suffolk here (http://www.canterusa.org/newengland/trainerlistings.htm).

Hope to see you on Sunday!

I just adopted my boy a year ago from another tb rescue org. He is PLENTY (with a broken qh and chubby pony to spare) right now! I can't get over how wonderful he is though. I felt compelled to endorse this wonderful breed for anyone who is thinking about snatching up a good deal. Suffolk is in my neck of the woods, but I will be taking my handsome boy to a clinic. :D

Bumping - the Showcase is just a day away! The weather forecast has brightened considerably, and we have LOTS of horses lined up to participate. If you're in the New England area and interested in finding an OTTB to call your own, please do stop by.

More information can be found at:

http://www.canterusa.org/newengland/showcase.htm

Please note that not all of the horses on our trainer listings page (http://www.canterusa.org/newengland/trainerlistings.htm)will be taking part in the Showcase. **If you see a horse on the site that really grabs your eye, be sure to call the trainer ASAP; lots of trainers are already starting to ship out for other tracks.**

Hope to see you all Sunday.

Hi all -

Just got home from last minute prep for tomorrow, we're VERY excited! We took close to 20 BRAND NEW listings today and there are going to be 60+ horses presented tomorrow!

Anyone who is even a little curious about OTTBs should come and check it out - even if you're not in the market... it will be a great opportunity to see what the whole OTTB thing is all about and the quality of horses available!

Weather reports are still holding, so it's going to be a great day!! If you can't make it, do a little anti-rain dance for us and send all your friends :)

I, too, would be very interested to hear about how it went. I was pretty tempted to go, but already had plans to ride in a hunter pace today (plus, I'm not really ready for a horse now anyway). But I was thinking of the showcase today and wondering about how it went. The weather was certainly beautiful for it anyway.

We had a great day at the track . Weather turned out perfect and we had a big turnout. Lots of lots of horses were shown and there was quite a bit of interest in a lot of them. We don't have an official count but a decent amount of horses found homes today :). Many more people visited a bunch of the horses and are going home to think about which one would suit them best and some want to check with their trainers. There were so many nice horses and at really decent prices. We took some more listings too.

If anyone is still looking, definitely give the owner/trainer a call sooner rather than later as a lot of trainers are planning to ship out soon and the track closes very soon too. All in all it was a great day and thank you to all who showed up!! :)

I sent good thoughts toward Suffolk Downs on my way out of Boston today. I was in the city for a Memorial Service and I wondered how the Showcase was going as we drove past the exit for Suffolk Downs. it's nice to hear that there was a good turnout.

First off, hats off to ryansgirl and the many other hard-working volunteers who made the Showcase happen. It was a beautiful day after all (whew!) and as ryansgirl noted, we had a great turnout.

We have official word that 10 horses sold yesterday...we're hoping many more will follow in the week to come. We also took several new listings, which will be up on the site later today; these include some "practically giveaways" that are NICE, NICE horses who just need to MOVE as their trainers prepare to ship out.

If you see a horse you like on the trainer listings (http://www.canterusa.org/newengland/trainerlistings.htm), please, don't wait to call, as trainers are already beginning to leave. Take a look at these beauties. It's very hard not to fall in love!

Thanks again to all who got the Showcase up and running and to all who came out to Suffolk yesterday!

The horses will be shipping out soon if they haven't already so if you are thinking about buying one, give the trainer/owner a call sooner rather than later :).

Did anyone see A Time or Two at Suffolk? Anyone know of a shipper heading south with an extra spot (we're in NC & willing to meet off I-95)?

Hey -

I don't really remember any specific about a Time or Two - just that she needs to move ASAP - as do a lot of the horses there.

Have you by any chance called the trainer? I would highly suggest you do if you are serious about her (and you can make an offer :)).

If you go to this page: http://www.canterusa.org/newengland/resources.htm

you will see a list of shippers who travel the east coast all the time - there could be an open spot on one of them. :)

Bump for the OTTBs!

I can't take one home this year, but I have a 75" Weathabeeta Orican waterproof turnout (1200 denier) to donate to someone who takes a horse that's "in the pink". It's lightly used, but a run through the wash will make it like new again. :)

I'm local to the Burlington MA area and can deliver within a reasonable distance.

I just checked the list and the one I like is still on it...maybe Santa will bring me a bigger barn this year so I can fill it with more horses:)
