We are in the planning stages of the 2nd annual Expo slated for January 3,2009 in Raleigh, NC.
BUT-- because of the economy, we are concerned that people will not come out to attend. We do have 3 speakers lined up and are talking to stallion owners.
Can you all let me know if you are planning on attending?
If the interest is there, we will go ahead with our plans. Otherwise, we will postpone the expo until 2010.

Maryanna,
I'm interested in coming, but I do wonder if maybe you should brainstorm about how to get maximum publicity with minimum dollars.
I am sure if you tap into the considerable creative talent of this list you'll get some good ideas.
For example:
Make some inexpensive flyers. Ask folks on this board if they will help you distribute them to various venues and send the willing ones a handful to put out.
Look into the free jumping clinic idea, plus a comp seemed to get folks all fired up when it was suggested for the NOVA area.
I am sure others will come up with more ideas.

I am interested in coming again if possible. Funds are tight here like many but if it looks like a go, I'll try and bring at least one stallion and some offspring.

I would recommend that you get in touch with the college riding teams and local farms. I could hand out some fliers to some local farms near me that have a significant riding/lesson program if you need help. Let me know.

Rats!!! I wanted to attend so badly but wasn't sure of the date; now I realize I've made flight plans already and will be out of town that weekend! :(! We went last year and it was so fun, got to hug our fav, Donatelli... totally worth the drive. :)

I would love to try and make it this year - as a spectator - looking for my next dressage prospect. I also have a friend who is actively searching for her next horse - I think she'd really like to see the different stallions and their offspring.
As for advertising, I could include something, with a link to a flyer when you have one, on our GMO website - we're in region 1.

"Make some inexpensive flyers. Ask folks on this board if they will help you distribute them to various venues and send the willing ones a handful to put out."
A flyer posted on the website could be emailed. It could get around the world faster than a good joke!
(Bill is still recovering from his second hip replacement so I don't know if we can bring anything or not.) Good Luck in any case!!

I would love to come as a spectator. It is my weekend to work so will have to try to switch which will be very very difficult right after the holidays.
Would be really neat to have name tags printed with COTH on them so that people could fill in their user name and real name. I wanted so much to meet people from here but found it somewhat daunting to just go up ask folks

What would be the costs this year to bring a stallion?
