View Full Version : Looking for half-hole stirrup leathers

I am looking for some half-hole stirrup leathers (who would have thought one hole could be too long and one too short when the holes are an inch apart, but they are) that won't break the bank. I need them in black too. Anybody have the Ainsley ($60) or Collegiate ($65) or other reasonably priced ones? I normally like the Courbette leathers, but I can't find them for a decent price.

Might I make an alternative suggestion?
I don't know if you're in the market for new leathers anyway, but if you just need them to fit, how about borrowing a leather hole puncher?

Looks like I know where I'm ordering my next pair of leathers from :D
Wonder if he can make webber-type stirrups?

Helllo to the OP... it's UNANIMOUS!! Gary Mundy. makes them the way YOU want them.
ROAN>>>> yes, if you mean a bottom adjust single thickness leather than yes he does. He doesn't make them with the slot and tab system Bates uses, but uses a Conway buckle with a sleeve over it. The Dover bottom adjust leathers have the buckle but no sleeve. The sleeve isn't mandatory either., You can request the leathers without it. The beauty of these is they can be as long or short as you need, and with half holes or any other spacing.
I am sure if you asked for modifications he would. I have found with his work, if you offer a way he hasn't seen he will try it if he has the hardware to make it work.

Aswesome!
I forked out the dough and bought the Prestige webbers. They're WAY nicer than the Dover ones, but not perfect.
I think I'd prefer the Conway buckle as I don't like how the holes are spaced on the slot and tab types (the Prestige are slot and tab). I REALLY want webber types with ½" spaced holes.
And I'd want the sleeve, but with my initials or name on them :D

Yup, he can do custom stamping on the sleeve. The conway buckle is not that bulky, so I think you will like these.
Go ahead... give him a call! :) Tell him Paula sent ya!

What's wrong with a hole puncher?? I use it to adjust bridle fit, add half holes to stirrup leathers...easy and cheap!

Gary is great to work with, and he *does* make gorgeous leathers, but they will stretch. (Which is why I like the BoB ones. Haven't had to replace a pair yet.)

Copy that! My hole puncher is decades old, fully depreciated, still fully functional!

I'm with the hole puncher crowd...unless you're just looking for an excuse for a new set of leathers.
