View Full Version : Need an elegant, preferably 'T' name

Hi all,
The horse I need a name for isn't a warmblood, or a foal, so I hope I'm not shooting myself in the foot by posting here. I'm looking for a (preferably, but open to others) T name for my anglo gelding, he'll be used for dressage. I posted here because I'm always in awe of the excellent names I see posted here, and I want a sporthorsey name for him. I'm open to other letters, but I thought T would be good as his barn name is Tango.

A couple themes and ideas that could be incorperated are:
Tango
Dance
Eclipse (he was born on a day that was in mythology a battle that was ended by an eclipse)

Oh, and horse is a jokey type, aloof exterior. You leave, and even if he was ignoring you, he nickers and tries to follow (not good when tied ;)), that kind of stuff (oh, no, i don't like you - what, you're leaving? take me with you! noo!). Steals saddle pads, has been known to ring the judge's bell at a schooling show after our test (we were talking with the judge and he reached over and grabbed it. next test judge had us half 10 ft away. ;) Follows you anywhere, drinks coffee if he can, loves people food. Tried to climb up mounting block while trainer was sitting on it to better put his head on her shoulder. He pretends to be cool. ;0

Thanks!

:) Thanks for the suggestions.

I really like Tarantella, but I thing it sounds a little too much like a female spider for my taste. One thing I forgot to mention; I'd like the name to sound dressage-ey and elegant, as he hasn't got much of those qualities, haha. Thanks.

Your horse sounds like he has a great sense of humour which probably amazing some folks. He sounds like an extraordinary riding partner!

What about the name Tremendous?

Actually, I think Tango is a good show name for him. "I'd like the name to sound dressage-ey and elegant", it sounds right for him?

I like Two To Tango, but it seems like every horse named Tango has that show name, or is it just the ones I meet? Again, thanks guys. There are alot that I like, but aren't quite right on their own. Wonder if I can find a way to combine them.

Or you could go in a different letter direction with a dance related name: Flamenco

Or for a zippy kind of guy: Testarossa (sp?) Isn't that some kind of sports car? Hmm perhaps better suited to an eventer

Thanks. :) I'm going to try opening up to some non T names, as none of these seem quite right, though they're all great names. I'm looking for a warmblood-type name, not too many words, simple and elegant. If it helps, here is his sire's pedigree (he's and his dam aren't on allbreedpedigree).

What about Tsubasa? (It's a silent T - so pronounced Su Ba Sa) It means wings/flight in japanese and pretty elegant sounding.

Having an announcer deal with the TS sound might be funny :P and another story completely haha

I've heard Tanqueray prounounced 2 ways. Either tank-er-AY or tang-er-AY, but I think the first is the correct one.

We're all looking forward to learning your final decision, so please be sure to post it!

You are correct. If you go to a bar and ask for it either way you will get the right thing.
