His name is Gryffindor, dk bay gelding. Had quite a following down here while he was racing, has been retired for about a year I think. He is a pacer, don't know if that's free-standing or hobbled as I don't recall seeing him race. His last start is listed on USTA as 08/26/07. I know his ankle and stifle bothered him towards the end of his career (sorry, don't know what side). He has some ugly tendon sheaths up front, does (or did, I haven't watched him go in about a month) stab with, I'd like to say his left front, toe. Sweet personality, just needs and wants attention. I'd say he's about 15.2 or so. Very very attractive. His trainer said he needed to go or would be auctioned. I couldn't let that happen. I took him to buy him time, but its time for him to go elsewhere. Could someone please help? He's located in lower Delaware ...

Please DO NOT give him away unless you check the people out with references and where he will be going. I guarantee you if you give him away with out doing this he will end up at the auction. To many bad people out there.

Im in no hurry to give him away and won't watch him go to just anyone. I finally found the paper I printed out of USTA.com and contacted his current listed owner. When I went on their site and clicked on pictures, Gryf was the only one with an album. In the album were 4 of his win pictures, The Messenger Elimination (where he set a new track record), The Messenger, a Progressive Pace final where he made a new lifetime mark.... So I'm hoping that when his owner reads the email I will have some assistance from there ...

Does he ride? What is he like? Do you have pics to share? Might help people get the word out. I know of someone looking for a trail horse.

I haven't had the time to get on him, I'm sure he could be trail ridden. Time and money constraints have all been a factor. I'll try to get pictures of him this weekend. Email me @ Tenley@aol.com if you'd like so I know where to send them ...

Thanks

There's a rescue up here by me in NE PA (Wilkes-Barre area) that specializes in OTT Standardbreds. They come off the Pocono Downs track. It's called REASON. Haven't worked with them, but I believe they have a website and might have room for him. There's also another STB rescue in NJ, right across the bridge from Philly, but I can't remember the name. Beautiful place though—looks like a millionaire owns it, and the horses seemed to be wonderfully cared for! The first place is a much smaller operation, more of a backyard deal, but they have a lot of media attention and seem to do many fundraisers.

PM me if you'd like me to dig a little more for details. :)

You can always try www.horseloversunited.com as well, they are a Standardbred Rescue that's local (Salisbury, MD I think?)
