Wow. How much snow is that? What's the elevation where you are? I'm getting bummed just thinking about snow.
Snow=the end of trail riding and the beginning of my annual gloomy period.
Sigh.

Having endured 7 summers in Texas after living in Colorado, I think it's beautiful!!!!!!!
And am sure my horses would prefer to making snow angel horses than standing in the
horrible heat here, swatting flies.

Ick. My first reaction was one of horror. I am still traumatized from last winter/"spring". It's too early!! I am not ready!! It would be beautiful in December, maybe late November. It does look like you live in a beautiful area. Do you always get snow this early? (I need a hay feeder like you, only smaller. Everything from their wall mounted hay racks ends up on the ground, so I usually feed off the ground, but it gets hard to find a decent spot in the muddy spring.) Will this snow last?

I will take this nice, long drawn out fall we are having over the snow. Snow is not due here until Dec.!! Gave all the fields a last mowing (I hope) because they grew so much after the rains of last week and the week before. Had thought I was done when I mowed in Sept. I am going to need to weed whack again under the fences, darn it.
Starting to look for winter things, get them ready for use when needed. Tractor chains, water heaters and winter insulated tanks, tires for feeders into the correct paddocks. Moved the bird feeder hooks so they are in place. Leaf nets on the fish pond.
Horses are undecided, some are still pretty slick, one has lots of hair, but the others are getting thicker hair. The gnats and mosquitos are really chewing them up these hot days, so I swapped back to night turnout in the cooler temps.
So far, we are just giving hay for snacks if stalled for long times. All equines are looking good on pasture. Trees coloring up, but only two frosts so far. Not looking forward to the mud and hay feeding outside. What we have now is just FINE, thanks! NOT ready for snow yet.

It may be GONE for you, but here in Michigan it's LOVELY. Beautiful fall colors, horses walking around in ponds and creeks to cool off... still plenty of days for beer drinking before wine (whine) weather arrives!!
4 hours of riding in woods and fields yesterday; $2.87 a gallon gas today; mid 70s. PRICELESS!!

Snows gone today. But it froze all the garden, So I can stop worrying about picking anything and till the garden under.
Snow this early doesn't stay. It will come and go a few time before the really cold weather arrives. It's supposed to be 70 tomorrow.

Painted Horse, where in Utah?
My parents live in Draper, on the top of South Mountain in the Suncrest neighborhood and they had 6 inches the other morning!!! My mom said it was 28 degrees up there the other morning too! Ew!!! I'll stick to Hawaii, thankyouverymuch.

Hmm, brilliant sun with temps predicted in the upper 80s today with a nice breeze--of course horses have grown their winter coats anyway. Down here in GA a late December day with temps only reaching the 50s is considered by some (not ME!) as "too cold to ride."
Its a wonderful fact of life in the Deep South that you can have a high of 80 and a chance of thunderstorms almost any day of the "winter." I have never regretted leaving the snowy wastes behind, I served my time up North!

Oh My Goodness... I am not ready to think of snow yet!
We are having unseasonably warm days this week--in lower 80's and I am very much enjoying them. The last little bit of summer.
At least your early snows melt and go away fast this part of the season.
Enjoy them.
Did the kids get to miss a day of school?

We have snow here in Alaska too. It is a little early but better that then all the rain and mud that has plagued us the last few months. The horses seem chipper about the change.
I'm originally from West Valley City, Utah. Moved to Alaska when I was 5 yrs old (now 40ish). I was shocked to see all the agicultural areas I had lived near are now city-fied.

And they call Canada the great white north??? We have beautiful weather and only this week have the leaves started to change. It was tee shirt weather this past weekend.
Often you wonder if it is going to be a green christmas.
You can have our snow:lol:

Kids miss a day of school for snow? You have to be kidding! They NEVER miss a day of school because of snow around here. They expect people to know how to deal with a snow storm if you live in Utah.
There is a town about 50 miles from my house that usually holds the record for the coldest temps in the lower 48 states. It and west yellowstone seem to trade the priviledge.
And Yes Mersey, This area has changed a lot in the last 15 years. A better than national ecconomy and lower than average unemployment have attracted lots of out of staters. We keep hoping that we will have a bad winter and send them all packing.
Jeano, I spent 2 years in Georgia, I've seen it snow 4" and close down the state for a week. I've seen the ice storms. I've walked many a mile in that constant drizzle you guys get in the winter. Yes it's 50* and you are soaking wet. I've watched the heat lighting in the summer and the thunderstorms. I've hidden from tornados, and experiences all the heavy rain that hurricanes blow in. And I won't even start on the 100 days of 90* and 90% humidity. Let alone the Kudzo and pollen.
Hopefully we have each gravitated to what we enjoy.
