Anyone have or know of a grinder that will do a cup or so at a time? I have one of those small grinders that does like 2 oz of coffee beans and its driving me batty.

Does the blender do a good job of really breaking them up? I think I have an extra one at home that I could snag for flax.

you can use a coffee grinder.

if you are soaking beet pulp you might just add your flax seed to the soak. it's save to feed whole flax seeds if they are soaked.

I grind mine- 5 cups, twice a day, with a blender. Try to find a blender with a flat bottom- NOT one with a low spot around the blade- it all gets stuck down there!

Works great- and I have tried everything from coffee mills-even big, expensive ones- and this is the way to do it!

errrr...
don't grind them. Really. You don't have to. I've been feeding them whole for years and everyone seems fine :D

coffee grinder does fine.

Or buy the already stablized and ground flax seed thru seminole.

For almost a year I fed whole flax seed to my 2 horses, cause I liked the nutty taste over the powery ground stuff.

I ignored the seminole nutritionist who told me that like tomato seeds (which go right thur humans btw and show up iin the treated sludge that municipalities sell for fertilizer) flax seeds go straight thru horses, and come spring............................

I had the plants, lots of them, in the manure pile at the barn we lived it.

I switched to stablized ground seed. Not as tasty but stayed inside the horses.

I buy a big bag of whole flax; grind it up 3 cups at a time in the blender and freeze it in one quart plastic yogurt containers that I've saved and then throw it in the freezer. Works great that way.

I've fed quite a bit of whole flax and have never, ever seen a volunteer flax plant.

I use a blender and it works fine. I'll grind a bunch and put it in a small bucket in 'fridge.. then take out what I need to feed at feeding time.
