Does anybody have a picture of Larrupin'? I've been trying for a year to get one, I posted on pedigreequery and somebody mentioned he was in a stallion ad in MidAtlantic TB (??) but it was nothing I could find archived on-line. I contacted where he is standing in AZ and they said they just published a magazine with a photo ad of him they would send me, and didn't. I dont' feel right going back to them, as I feel like I'm just royally wasting their time.
I really want a picture of this stallion, I have a lovely mare by him (her dam is dead), and I just want to see the influence of sire and which lines she more closely favors.
He used to stand in MD. Anyone????

I don't have a photo, but just wanted to say that I own a Larrupin' baby who has turned out to be a fantastic Eventer. His babies are really successful in the show ring - a ton of heart and are competitive and are incredible jumpers.
I'd suggest going back to the farm where he is standing now and request the magazine that they published. It's their job to promote and do PR on the horse. Maybe you're interested in breeding your mare to him?

He is standing in AZ, I'm in MD, so that would be a long trip or I'd go visit him in person :)
His offspring are successful in the show ring? Care to elaborate? I have a hard time finding ANYTHING on him, particularly in sport.
My mare is amazing in type, she looks like a trakehner or modern TB with a very upright topline and build, tall, and a huge ground covering stride. I actually was at a TB breeding and race training farm one day and walked by her and stopped in my tracks. I stalked her for months after that (actually I stalked her owner) until the owner finally agreed to sell.
I know her damline fairly well, but like I said Larrupin' info seems like a needle in a haystack to me!
I'd LOVE to see pictures of yours!!!

Larrupin' is in Arizona now? I guess I've been out of it awhile...
I can't recall if I've actually seen Larrupin' in person, but I've worked with at probably a dozen of his kids. I remember them all being dark bay (all of 'em), smallish, lanky, not particularly head turners, but real try-ers.
I think he stood at Green Willow Farms when he was in MD... maybe you could contact them and see if they have anything? That is, if you haven't done so already.

I've seen pictures of him and he is a great lookin' stud. As for his offspring, IMO there are better options out there.

I've seen a couple other of his offspring and would tend to agree with you on this. That is why I was figuring damline, but when I have seen neither parent, it's harder to evaluate. Thanks for your feedback!

Hmmm - the stallion issue doesn't come out until November/December and I'm not finding it on the September/October issue of the ATBA news. Fleming's ads are for Chestertown Slew. It's online:

Fleming's got an email addy - maybe drop them a note and ask if it's the next issue? The ATBA fall sale is next Thursday, so I'm sure they're super busy right now.

Okggo-
My gelding is petite, but put together properly and well balanced. Bit on the finer side with his bone, extremely catlike and floats over the ground. Easy to manuver over fences and VERY quick. He's snappy with his legs, tight with his forearms and knees.
His personality is steady, quiet and somewhat serious under tack. He takes the stress of competition in stride and is competitive.
I'm not sure how to post a link to his photos on this thread. If you PM me with your email, I'd be happy to forward some photos.
About 3 years ago, Acorn Hill Farm in VA. had his full brother at a trial - they looked very similiar in the head and body size. Quiet demeanor too.

LKF, is it this one? http://www.littlekentuckyfarm.com/photos/StayGold/092207con2.jpg
That horse looks quite a lot like my mare, but she has a bit more size on her.

IME, Larrupin' foals tended to be crooked and be unsound in the knees.
He stood here at Green Willow for a bit, was sold to dissolve a partnership, and I think was in Louisiana for a couple years before winding up in AZ.
Call Carolyn Green at Green Willow in Westminster. She's not the most warm and fuzzy individual, though, so consider that when you talk to her. You could also call the Mid-Atlantic TB (based in Timonium/Lutherville) and see if you could get a back copy of a stallion issue--there were always photos of the Green Willow horses in there. I think he left here in 2004, so a 2002 or 2003 issue would have it.

Thanks for the suggestions! Actually the couple I have seen on dreamhorse have been over at the knee, at best. Although LKF's is stunning, and my mare is correct (as is her foal), I am still leaning toward influence of the dam based on what I am hearing here. Was he, himself, crooked?

Okggo-
The Larrupin' horses I have seen and dealt with were correct all around (conformation). Clean legs, solid feet, otherwise they wouldn't hold up to the wear and tear of Eventing.
