As to the $10M question of: will this package get sold?

Will anyone pony up?

"We'll see," said Case Clay, the president of Three Chimneys. "Everybody has a little concern, but what better time to have a little levity and fantasy?"

I'll consult with my wife to see if it can be added to the list for this year :D

All kidding aside $10M for 10 horses and all upkeep, training, vet bills, et al for 4-years? It could be a bargain. Plenty of new rich owners have done far worse by trying to reivent the wheel and spending like fools with each mistake.

No kidding! It is such an expensive thing to do! Though if I win a substantial lottery anytime soon, it would be fun!! Wonder if you get any say in picking the horses?

Brings to mind that old joke.

Q: How do you make a million in horses?

A: Start with ten million.

I'd presume that the total purchase price - inclusive of buyers premium - is capped at a certain dollar amount. So maybe $2M of the $10M paid in. With only 4-years of management service would anyone really want to have just (or even any) yearlings?

Unless the contract defines what is included and what is excluded it could be a very costly deal for Three Chimneys. Example, you as an owner want to enter a horse into the Santa Anita Derby. The cost of shipping said horse out via Tex Sutton Forwarding (http://www.suttonforwarding.com/History.aspx) is going to be $10k one way for one horse ...

I was thinking along the same lines. They must not be planning to buy very expensive horses. And yearlings? Does that mean that the new owner spends the first 1-2 years waiting for them to grow up? Most likely 3Cs would buy some stock off the track so the owners could get started soon after purchase--but buying good horses that way can be very costly. And the plan doesn't allot that much for expenses when you think that they're talking about 10-12 horses.

Now wait, it says train them, house them, and enter them in races...it says nothing about providing the shipping fees or entry fees? My guess would be that there will still be some bills to be footed by the owner (I could be wrong, of course, you'd have to ask Three Chimneys or NM to find out what is covered).

From the Press Release on Bloodhorse.com:

This all-inclusive gift includes the management of a stable of 12-15 horses. All bills and fees are paid for by Three Chimneys, and it allows the recipient to choose a stable name, design silks, name any unnamed horses, attend races, give quotes to the media, and keep all of the trophies and purse money won by horses on the stable’s roster.

So maybe they would be footing the bill for shipping horses all over the country if need be.....

I wonder how this offering is going.

My wife clipped out the page and left it beside my laptop last week although I don't think that was meant to be a Christmas hint :D
