I cannot seem to get Calracing.com work to see this effort. Has anyone seen it? I'd like to think it is as impressive as the description sounds. Considering trainer Wayne Catalano has picked up his fourth straight training crown at Arlington Park with meet just ended and his seventh in the last nine seasons you know he's seen a lot :D
Catalano got off the duck with the Calabrese-owned Rusty Bucket, who won the 10th race on Saturday in remarkable fashion.
Rusty Bucket reared at the start, getting away close to 10 lengths behind the rest of field, and at the first call of the 6 1/2-furlong race, he trailed the leader by more than 20 lengths. One sustained seven-wide rally later, and Rusty Bucket was home by a half-length in a $5,000 conditioned claimer.
"I've never seen one win like that before," Catalano said.

There was a race like this earlier in the year - I think it was a 7f maiden with one of the "Discreet freaks" (a Discreet Cat sibling or 1/2) - I can't remember who it was now - but anyway, this horse was 20+ lengths out of it then came on in the stretch like he'd just entered the race and won by several lengths. Really visually impressive.
It was how I've always imagined Stymie's races looked

Forget Rusty Bucket.
Watch the #3 horse. That will be the horse far far back when they show them coming into the stretch. Maiden filly, obviously still very green.

Alas it appears to have been just one of those freak one-time efforts as Donnaguska did not repeat such fire in the second career start in the slop. And per the race chart was actually vanned off (http://www.drf.com/drfPDFChartRacesIndexAction.do?TRK=HAW&CTY=USA&DATE=20081106&RN=3) :(
(A youtube.com version of the maiden is out there too (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mO6vm7TIvrI))
I thought it was a bit too soon to runher back after that effort a her amazing maiden start and victory was Oct 23rd.
Yesterday (Thursday Nov 6) Donnaguska was listed as finishing second to last in the 3rd race at Hawthorne (http://drf.com/results/06/rHAW06.html?rn=387016#3) a $26,000 allowance race.

Her being vanned off doesn't surprise me. She looks like a bad mover in the win. I doubt she would hold up long, although it's obvious she has talent. She only got beat about 3 3/4 lengths and was then vanned off, so pretty good race considering.

Someone on youtube.com claims to be affiliated/connected/associated with Donnaguska ("Donna") and said this regarding the last effort in a posting under her maiden win video:
Donna lost two shoes and she bruised her feet. They vanned her off just for precation. Sarah, her groomer sent me a text this morning. She said that Donna was sound as could be.

Contrary to the prior opinions that Donnaguska was flawed in her style she came back today (12/14) at Turfway Park in the 8th race (6 Furlongs F&M's 3 Year Olds And Up) for $24,000.
Donnaguska won with solid ease and unlike the Silky Sullivan-esq move before she was sitting just one horse off the lead the whole time and pounced at the top of the stretch and drew off.

Kudos to her.

It will continue to be a tough battle in the jockey standings at Hawthorne this winter. Tough not only with the competition but elements too - the southside of Chicago track is around the 13 degree mark with windchill today, for example.
As of this afternoon with a couple of winners it looks like Ms. Inez Karlson - 24 - the Swedish born, one-time boxer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lMAuxkvoD4) has moved her way back up to the top in a tie with Emigh. The standings as of COB Wednesday here with 368 starts for her (http://www.hawthorneracecourse.com/frame.php?c=LIVE%20RACING&f=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.equibase.com%2Fpremium%2FeqbTop LeadersByTrackDisplay.cfm%3FTRK%3DHAW%26CY%3DUSA%2 6STAT%3DJ)

You are partially correct regarding Donnaguska's movement. She paddles at the walk, but when she gallops, she is very smooth and has a nice stride for her smallish size (15.3). She really is a fantastic filly and is eaten up with class. The 'Donna' you mention on You Tube is Donna Hays. I sold the filly to Donna and Billy and few months ago (I broke her myself), as Joe Woodard is a good friend of mine. In her second start, one of her shoes sucked off in the mud, then rotated under her foot and one of the bent nails went into her sole, causing her to bruise a bit. The jock, unaware that it was a bruise, did the smart thing and hailed the van.
"she was sitting just one horse off the lead the whole time and pounced at the top of the stretch and drew off."
And Glimmerglass, I'm not sure what race you were watching, but she was not one horse off. She closed.

Congrats on the sale.

No point in quibbling on the matter, but she didn't come from way off the pace. She wasn't the lead, but was in the thick of the hunt.
Speaking of Hawthorne watch the replay for Friday Dec 19th's race 4 (http://www.hawthorneracecourse.com/live_racing/instantreplays/081219-04.asx):
Look for #11 Dangerous Gal, who was listed on the tote at 70-1 when she went in the gate and then 99-1 (max displayed) when the gates open which was still below the actual odds :D Caller Peter Galassi after the run cites the true odds

They ran Donnaguska back again (she just ran on Dec 14) on Dec 27th in the 10th race - a 1 mi opional allowance claimer (http://www.drf.com/drfPDFChartRacesIndexAction.do?TRK=TP&CTY=USA&DATE=20081227&RN=10) where she finished 2nd.
She had the lead but was nipped in the final jump per the chart.
