I have had several lessons from him, several on the flat and one jumping. He is tough but fair and very, very good. He trains several local FEI level amateurs, and I have been impressed with his lessons with them, as well as was very impressed with how he worked with me, someone who rode H/J her whole life.

The first day he rode my mare for about 5 minutes and got more out of her than anyone has since. He was also able to hone in on a solution to a nagging issue I was having by the end of my first lesson, and suggested reasons and corrections that no one else ever picked up on. My lesson with him was so good I left my trainer (that I was in full training with) that month. His lesson was that good and that eye opening.

Unfortunately for me all his clinics are sold out to boarders at the barns he clinics at here in NorCal or I would ride with him now. When I moved my mare I moved her closer to my house and the barn I was at is closed to outside riders :(

I will say, he's very "German" for lack of a better word. He wore me OUT. He had me going very forward with my very green mare, and in my jumping lesson had me jumping much more forward and higher than I felt completely comfortable at first, but boy did he have her going and jumping well. I felt like I really accomplished something by the end.

I can't say enough about Alex. I have worked with him for several years now, he comes near where I live about every 6 weeks. He is a gifted teacher and I wouldn't be where I am without him. I am an upper level dressage rider and he is the first instructer I have worked with who understands how to teach that level of riding.

Whenever I think about hosting a clinic - he's the guy I'd like to look into.

I'd be curious to know where you are located, as I would love to ride or audit, if your near.

If your not close would love to hear how it goes.

Thanks.

I am a Grand Prix rider and trainer and I have ridden with Alex for 6 years. He is very correct in his training and truly loves teaching horses and riders! He helps me on all of my horses from babies to Grand Prix...super training!

LaNet, I have been watching him too! I would love to ride with him. I love how he seems to use different approaches to solving problem and how you can SEE results. BTW, I love that website you are talking about. The only problem is that I have watched almost all of the videos (in english) that are on there... I need more! I love Jan Brink too, I love how he "plays" with the horses.

I've had the great pleasure to work with Alex on a number of occasions when he came to Maryland. He is very correct, motivating, positive and flexible with the horse and rider, and I think he genuinely cares about each and every horse/rider team. When he rides a horse during the session, he has the ability to quickly evaluate the situation and come up with several potential solutions or recommendations. I'm very hopeful Alex will return to Maryland (or the Mid-Atlantic Region). I would very much like to work with him again. :)

I just rode for Alex, recommended by a friend. He was great. He assesses horse and rider instantly, asks what you want to work on, and you work on it. My OTTB is schooling third and of course changes are really exciting. I told him that was our big problem, and that's what we worked on for 2 days. He knew instantly what was happening each direction (different issues), and what I need to make happen. I work alone 90% of the time so it was really helpful to concentrate on our big issue. He also identified my horses tendency to get worked up about it and not push him over the edge. He was also equally helpful and respectful to all participants. I was very impressed and will be riding with him again.

If he ever comes to California, I will be all over that and will be dragging my friend who has a 2nd/3rd level Dutch WB along with me.

Alex does go to California fairly regularly -- Castro Valley is one, I believe.

I've had Alex come to my place for more than five years. I have learned so much. He really pushes you, and is not prejudiced against any breed.

I am a bit reluctant to post all this praise about Alex, however, because if he gets too busy, I might have a more difficult time getting him to MY place!!
