I received notification that Ocean Colors worked out at churchill downs a couple of days ago. As far as I know, this is the first work for her since tying up in July. I'm glad she's back in action.

Does anyone know what the plan is for her? Keeneland maybe?

She's been working out regularly about once a week it seems: Oct 6th, 13th, and 20th (http://www.drf.com/workoutsForHorseAction.do?rNo=06002092) and at 5F as of late. I doubt they'd work her at Churchill for a return to the races on a synthetic course like Keeneland. I'm looking forward to her returning to the races whenever that may be ;)

Did she ever return to a race? I don't think I missed it but maybe she returned to an allowance - who knows.

Per the DRF Workout Search (http://www.drf.com/workoutsForHorseAction.do?rNo=06002092) she last did a recorded work on Feb 12, 2009 at 4F at "VIN"

I presume VIN is Vinery Stable, Ocala (Summerfield) FL

Sorry, I don't have any news, either. Her last appearance on the worktab: 4f gd in :51.40 B (1/1) at VIN, 02/21/09

I'll speculate that she's not going to start again and is soon headed to the shed. Hope I'm wrong!

Yes, VIN is the Vinery.

I sadly suspect you're right.

She tied up after that July 2008 effort at Saratoga in the Schuylerville. That tends to be more mental which may never be "fixed". Halfbridled was ultimately retired (http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/racing-news/2004/April/30/Halfbridled-ties-up-again-scratched-from-Kentucky-Oaks.aspx) with the same problem despite the flashes of amazing talent when she was 2.

Yep - just was going through the entries and viola I saw her name in the 5th race on Saturday! Listed as the significant favorite at 3/1

And I'll get to see her race in person along with about 26,000 other people :)

She just raced - and won - the 4th race at Churchill Downs (June 19) for the 1st time under the lights!

It was the daughter of the late-Kentucky Derby winner Winning Colors first attempt on the turf.

The DRF missed this thread :)

Asmussen filly impresses

Largely overshadowed by the spectacle of night racing was a performance in the Friday twilight by Ocean Colors, a 3-year-old filly who ran off to a 2 1/2-length score in an entry-level allowance at five furlongs on the turf.

Perhaps the most notable thing about Ocean Colors is that she is out of the late Winning Colors, the 1988 Kentucky Derby winner. She is owned by Gainesway Thoroughbreds and trained by Steve Asmussen.

A return to the dirt (due to weather forcing the race off turf) showed she still has grit but the win got away ... From the Sat August 1st 2009 (http://drf.com/news/article/106027.html) report from Monmouth Park

Lady Alexander survived a stretch duel with Ocean Colors to score a three-length victory in the off-the-turf $60,000 Mongo Queen at Monmouth Park.

Ridden by Daniel Centeno for trainer Bruce Alexander, Lady Alexander ($5.80) ran 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:02.87 while winning for the third time in six lifetime starts.

Ocean Colors, the 8-5 favorite in a field of six 3-year-old fillies, held second, 3 1/2 lengths in front of Puddy de Luca.

Six horses were scratched when the race was taken off the turf.
