It's that time of year again! We are collecting items for the CANTER auction to be held October 10-20th. Items will be accepted until October 9th and include lessons from folks like Boyd, Buck D, Holly H, and more, as well as breedings to some amazing stallions.

We are still hoping for a bit more to auction, so if you have something you would consider adding to help our ponies, that would be so fantastic.

CANTER MA currently has 22 horses, and are turning away horses *Daily*, which means if a home is not found, they are going to New Holland. We like to be able to help the good people trying to do right by their racehorses, but without help we cannot continue to do so.

People, remember you don't just have to contribute horse stuff. You can donate your time, your cooking or your spouse! Big items in the past have included a day of farm labor, baskets of goodies to ship, and shawls from India.

Ask your local vet clinic to donate some vet wrap, the local event to donate an entry, or the local tack store to donate a pair of gloves. Offer up yourself for 4 hours of jump painting or a day as a baby-sitter. Ask your local hunt to donate a cap fee or donate the cap yourself. Top notch braiding jobs are always a popular item.

Or you can clean out your tack trunk and finally get rid of that bridle that is too small for your current horse, or the Mattes pad that doesn't fit your saddle. And those of you who left the H/J world in order to run XC, can get rid of all fancy raised bridle with hook studs ;) Used or new is fine, as long as the items are clean and accurately advertised.

The goodies and services need not be limited to the Mid-Atlantic area, the more widespread the options, the more wide-spread the bidding, more bids mean more money for CANTER.

For those who want a closer look at how CANTER MA will be using the funds. CANTER MA believes that horses that have retraining often get better chances at new homes. Several of us have been writing blogs to illustrate the journey the horses go through in their retraining. I have updated my blog with several stories on the horses that have been retrained and moved on to new homes.

The two CANTER horses I have in retraining headed off to the beach this weekend but they are out eventing, trail riding, paper chasing and so much more almost every other weekend. We will be heading off to Jenny Camp starter and Plantation as well as some paper chases in between.

Woody has been out kicking some butt at the local starter trials. Check them out at Loch Moy starter and VHT.

Rosey, the cutest little mare who nobody wanted. She was on her way to New Holland with a little note from her owner saying she kicked and sometimes would bite:lol: Now Rosey is showing in the hunter ring and could not be any sweeter.

There needs to be an unspoken rule that friends don't outbid other friends! I have seen a couple of really awesome things I really like. Just trying to decide what to give up so that I can have them. sigh.......

11pm on the 20th is right. Now get to bidding!

Things are still getting added. And if you don't find anything that you MUST have, be sure to buy the ponies a bag of carrots or a bag of feed!
