COTH member talkofthetown lost her retired pony, Metro, aka Talk of The Town, this morning.

He presented with some nuero symptoms and they had little time to make that tough decision to let him go.

He was the very essence of a Pony, with a capital "P." He taught her to stick to a tough ride, how to bond with a special equine and most importantly, perhaps, sometimes you can't do anything but learn to smile. He had a bad habit of getting into the dressage arena, and deciding to lay down and roll, which is, of course, not a movement in the test. ;)

She learned really quickly to read that it was coming, bear down and insist on forward motion and to wear bigger spurs.

She is a rider that I admire tremendously and has done a great job training her OTTB over the last two years, and much of her talent, skill and just darn pluckiness is a result of what she has learned with Metro.

He will be missed. Godspeed, Metro.

Lovely tribute, bensmom. And my condolences, talkofthetown. He sounds like a complete character, and like it was a privilege to know him.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my horse to leukemia a few months ago so I know what you're going through. It does get better:sadsmile:

Man, you were tiny then. How did you grow up and I haven't gotten any older?

Hey, talkofthetown, I met you at Rolex, and you have my deepest sympathies. I know how hard it is to loose a "partner in crime" and I am sending jingles your way.

ITs never easy to lose one, especially when it is sudden, one of the hardest things us horse lovers must face at one time or another.
Hugs to her. :(

Metro was a very special pony--the sort any mother would want for their child--and he was ridden by a very special and talented rider! He will be greatly missed. Talkofthetown, you are going to do great things in this world!

Seeing talkofthetown and her family was always my highlight of attending Red Hills. She actually gave me a picture of her and Metro - gorgeous pic of them going xc - she can't be older than 9 or so... I still have it in the visor of my truck after all these years. I keep it there to remind me we do this for fun and to enjoy every minute of it! That had to be 8-9 years ago. Can't see myself removing it now - it has just as much meaning now as it has for the last decade. Hugs to you and your family.
