Last spring a local feline rescued about 200 cats from a feral cat colony. Since I have grain hay -- and WAY too many mice -- I got three cats and they've done great and definitely helped my mouse problem.

I got a cry for help from another feline rescue organization that is trying to place about 50 cats in the New York area. I'm in California and they're even considering somehow getting me a couple more cats since they are desperately in need of homes. I was hoping some of the folks here would be interested in adding to their barn cat population and are located much closer than I am.

They are in good health and spayed or neutered and are really desperate for homes. If you could use a barn cat or three or four! get in touch with them. They are looking for people that need barn cats and I bet lots of folks here could make room for one or two.

The person I've been corresponding with is Wilma Lo [Wilma.Lo@diamondnotch.com].

You might want to ask the mods to move this to the giveaway forums, or crosspost there too. I hope some folks out there can take some of these kitties!

Where in NY are these guys located? I'm in need of some nice barn kitties - and I have the perfect set up. My house and barn are 800' away from the road. The road is a country route so not a lot of traffic. I haven't seen a fox or coyote for a few years. I've called the shelters and none of them allow the adoption of feral cats because they claim you can't maintain their healthcare. I do understand the premise, but the wildest barn cat I ever had turned into a complete love bug and died last year of old age. We had her 15 years and she was an adult stray. My current "barn" cat has decided the interior life is more her speed. So, my bet is she's curled up on the la-z-boy right now.
