Need ideas for a small gift for a teenager. She (her family) purchased a horse of mine and they provide one of those homes you dream of if you sell horses. They've had a very good summer and will be going to regionals. I want to get a little something to say good job bringing this green horse along. Ideas?

How great to hear about a seller that has kept up with the purchasing family - shows that you care about the horse!
If you know the rider/horses' colors, you could get her a nice saddle pad for XC - or a halter (in those colors or leather). Or - there are those nice leather bracelets that have the horse's name on a "nameplate." Goodness thats a terrible description, I hope you know what I'm talking about.

Or - a different route - a regionals "carepackage" with horse treats, some light snacks, a hoofpick, poultice, shampoo, duct tape...etc - whatever you'd want to put in it. Pack it in one of those small buckets.

I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you decide on!

How nice of you! I just noticed today that SmartPak has some neat gifts for under $20 (they're actually listed as that.) I was trying to get Christmas ideas. :D

Jeez I dont think my young horse's breeder will give me a Xmas present!

A bag of horse treats, a nice leather halter or lead, a dressage whip, gift certificate for part of a saddle fitting or something. You could look up some pictures of them from the photographers website and give her a framed picture with a plaque on it or something. Those are nice. I dont know about everyone else, but Im pretty picky about what kind of stuff I use, from liniments to tack, so it makes it hard for people to buy stuff for me.

You can also call the place where Regionals will be held, find out who the photographer is, order a "gift certificate" for a photo, and place the certificate inside a nice frame - that way you can see her open the gift, and she'll have something to remember Regionals with.

How about a locket with a picture of the horse in it? Glad to hear you found such a wonderful home!

Mine is a little selfish I guess but is along the lines of photography as well.
I think I'd have to get 2 frames and 2 gift certificates but if it were me I would also love to have a photo of my horse and his new owner too

My daughter has received some great gifts over the years. Her favorite was a charcoal drawing of her horse that had been framed. She treasures it, especially now that she's no longer competing that horse.

Looks like I'm the only one who'd vote for a book! Preferably Lucinda Green's Cross Country Riding (or Riding Cross Country - I can never remember), or Training the Three Day Horse and Rider.

If you're the breeder, and you have some pictures of the horse as a foal, I bet she would be thrilled to get them, maybe in a frame that had space for some of her current photos as well.
