They have some really cute plaid full seat ones in the new catalog but at $80 I have to wonder. Any feedback would be appreciated!

The "Riding Sport" is just Dover's re-badging of something else - I can't remember the actual maker name that is on the breeches. The knee-patch ones are nice enough (similar to On Course in quality, I think), but stay away from the full-seat ones. I wore completely through mine in, I kid you not, something like three rides (two flats, one jumping). The seat is *just* the Clarino, not Clarino over breech fabric, and it's not very thick.

i needed some cheapies last year, and i got both the knee patch and full seats.

i like the knee patch ones much much more. i'm 5'5" with normal length legs, and the "longs" fit me better.

the problem i had with the full seats is that they sort of lose shape. hard to explain, but as the fabric wears, the full seat part can start to feel weird, almost like someone is trying to pull your pants off from the butt down . I keep feeling like i have to hike them back up after even just walking around a bit. and then i have to pull the legs up a little once i get in the saddle, to create some give. I have full seat pikeurs and have had them for 9+ years and this never happened. I still use the full seat dover breeches, but only when i'm schooling and usually only on days when i know the barn is gonna be quiet. Not exactly cool to be pulling at your clothes in front of tons of people, LOL.

the knee patch ones stay where they belong.

Hhhm - I've had several pairs of Riding Sport breeches - I like the high waisted ones and they are reasonably priced. Mine have lasted for years (at least 3 years/pair) with regular riding, washing - usual wear and tear. Also - I only use full-seats as ride young and/or skittish horses - like that little extra grip!

That said, I don't use them for showing but love them for around the barn, schooling, hacking out, etc.

OMG, the mental picture of someone walking behind you tugging your breeches down has me on the floor, but I TOTALLY know what you mean.

My sister got me a pair for X-mas (not from Dover - just some other off type) and they basically felt like baggy diapers.

Not long ago I ordered a few Riding Sport shirts from Dover. I liked the quality, but they ran REALLY REALLY small, so I had to send them back. Don't know if the breeches run small, too, but you might check before ordering.

Oh, I forgot to mention this part. I did find that the breeches ran small.

Thanks everyone!!! your feedback is much appreciated!! I think I will pass - if it were free shipping to and back if they didn't work I might do it but the comments above are enough to make me think twice ;-)

thanks again!

Actually, I wear these ALL the time and have worn them for about 5 years now. In fact, they are one of the very very few brands that fit both my waist and my hips (I have narrower hips). Believe me, I've tried (and returned) many.

I wear different sizes in the full seats and knee patches, though. I'm a 30L in the knee patch, and a 28L in the full seat. The 30L in full seats are WAY too big for me. I also noticed that the black breeches tend to be cut slightly smaller than the other colors (the manufacturer once said it had to do with people who made the fabric). While my favorite full seat fabric is Cavasoft by Cavallo, I am not particularly annoyed at the clarino on these breeches. And they are only $55-60. I wear my breeches into the ground before tossing them and I find that these are a really good value (to me). I have a pair of white full seats and I have shown in them.

My two cents. I like them!

I wear the low rise full seats for schooling, and they fit me well. I'm only 4'11" with a really short torso and longer legs, so I find a regular rise to be both uncomfortable and unflattering. I tried a pair of the Low Rise side zips, and they seem to run a little bigger than the full seats, probably due to the different fabric. They're comfortable, though, and not bad looking. I like them way better than the Ariat Sport low rise side zip, so will probably wear them for schooling shows and such. I'll stick to my TS for shows I guess, even though the riding sports are actually more comfortable.

I have about five pairs of the riding sport. I am 5'2" with long torso but short waist. Get the low rise and they fall JUST beneath my belly button. I do wear different sizes as well... 32R in knee patch 30R in full seat. I also have NO hips and a flat tush. When I mean no hips... I mean pants that fit me perfectly at the waist fall down because there is nothing holding them up. 32" waist 33" hip. I LOVE how these fit me and my eldest pair is 3 years old and I have only had to do some quick repair stitching on the knee patch this past year. Full seats are two years old and besides a few stains look just dandy

I have a pair of the low rise knee patch breeches and loooove them. they're definitely my favorites for schooling/lessoning. They fit me better than my ariat and ts breeches and look a lot nicer than the price tag would suggest. I have them in brown, and am going to get more since they're on sale again.
BTW, the actual brand is Equicomfort.

Like them. I keep buying them because I know my size and dont want to try another and have to send it back. overall really good though, I use them everyday and they are just starting to rip by the kneepatch after a year. I have there chaps too which i like a lot too.
Ill keep buying them because they are in my price range, are built well, and i know my size, enough for me to stick with them.

You are SO right! I am usually a L in ladies, but ordered an XL so there would be some extra give when jumping. They run extremely small, my XL fits like a small. They worked for last summer, but I will be getting something that fits better for this year.

I have the black plaid breeches and they have held up for 3 years so far. They are pretty nice.

I just bought my second pair of fullseats and so far I love them. My first pair had been washed twice and the new pair I've only worn once. I think they fit nicely and are a great price for schooling breeches.
