This past weekend I participated in the Alberta Provincial Championships and Western Regional Finals with my half arab, Freddy (aka Texs Breeze). This was only our 3rd recognized show and our second for doing training level as our first show we played it safe and just did Walk/Trot.

Thursday was our first class. Training Level Test 3 and the judge was Joan Macartney. We received a 61.600%!! Highlights of the test were a 7 for our Medium Walk / Working Trot transition (movement # 9), our Left Canter transition (movedment # 10) and we received a 7 for Gaits!!!! The comment at the bottom was "Attractive Horse. Will score higher with more consistent relaxation & swing through back.".

On Friday, we had Brenda Minor for a judge for Training Level Test 4 which we received a 56.800%. Highlight of this one was the 8 we received for our entry. I was very pleased even though we weren't as balance during this test and a bit on the forehand because we had improved our score by over 3% in comparison to our last show.

For the Alberta Provincial Championships, we ended up 11th out of 16 for Adult Amateur Training Level.

for Western Regionals, we were 11th out of 13.

On Saturday, we had Anita Own for Training Test 3, we received a 59.200% We received 4 - 7's in the tests, 7 for our 20m circle to the right, 7 for free walk, 7 for 20m 1/2 circle to the left and transition to trot and a 7 for our 10 m 1/2 circle and halt. We also received a 7 for gaits again.

On Sunday, Training Test 4, we had Lisette Purcell for the judge. I wasn't happy with how I rode, but we did receive a 60.000%. We received 6 - 7's, entry and halt, 1st loop, working canter transition, trot transition, walk transition, and free walk. We also received a 4 as well, for the stretchy circle. I also went off course after the free walk / medium walk transition, instead of doing my trot loop, I picked up my canter in the corner. We did received all 6's for the collective marks though for that I was very grateful.

All in all, we have a good start I believe and am looking forward to next years shows.

What a wonderful start! I'm from Edmonton, are you near by? It's nice to see some Albertans on here! I wish I could show, but since I started working full time I have managed to work every weekend there was a show (well except for one, but it was my aniversary;)) How was the show? Good turn out?

I don't have any pictures from Provincials / Western Regionals. I promise that as soon as the official photographer has them up on her site, I will share.

Oh, I will be at Harvest Show with Freddy this weekend too. Only doing 1 test per day. As for my show nerves, they are still there. The first two shows, I was enjoying my "special" coffee (mmmm, Bailey's), but this past weekend, I had no crutch to lean on.

That's awesome! What do you think made this outing go so well? Just hard work or something special you're doing?
