Olympic Games doping tribunal decisions postponed

The International Equestrian Federation (FEI) has extended the time taken to reach a decision in the doping allegations against Olympic show jumpers Denis Lynch and Bernardo Alves and dressage rider Courtney King, for further investigation.
Decisions can be expected around September 30. Some riders might want to take their case to CAS, which will probably extend final decisions to the end of October.

Wow!

Just like everything else in FEI, "fast-track" is working unbelievably well!

I am soooo surprised.

Athough, honestly, am surprised because I thought CK-D decision would be announced sooner than that.

For some reason they (the FEI) must feel very secure to let it slip and slide this way. What a mess for the riders

I guess she is going to have to scratch her rides at the up coming Dressage at Devon then. TOO BAD

Perhaps some new evidence has surfaced or they are doing further investigation.

I was hoping for an earlier favorable decision, at least in Courtney's case.

Thats a shame I was really looking forward to watching her ride in person! :sigh:

why would she need to scratch DAD? I don't think they can suspend her until a final decision has been made (or has she already been suspended?).

ponyjumper4- it is my understanding that she has been suspended pending the outcome.

BUT this COULD be good news. When I was a trial lawyer, it was always good news for the defense if the jury was out for a long time....

But the FEI tribunal don't work with a jury. IMHO i think that this might have to do with the fact that the tribunal needs more time to come up with a decent and waterproof motivation. Because they also are aware that the next step for the riders is probably CAS, and they don't want to be overruled by the CAS

I understand the riders involved are suspended from showing - but was wondering if they are prohibitied from attending recognized shows as well. Does anyone know?

I know suspended riders are not allowed to coach at recognized shows. I am not sure about spectating off the top of my head, but I think that is prohibited also (in part because otherwise it would be too easy to argue that you are only spectating, not coaching).

If you are suspended for positive doping, you can not compete, coach or even place a foot on any FEI, USEF, USDF recognized showgrounds. It is clearly stated in the FEI rule book.
