I am curious to see if anyone has any links to videos of horses that have been very successful in the young horse classes. I would really love to see some good examples of what judges see as exceptional.

Here's the 5yo winner this year at Verden (the world championships) with a clip of the 6yo winner at the end:

I think the first ride on this tape is absolutely superb:

Here's a horse who placed 22nd at Verden this year: (doesn't say what age, that I caught at least):

JJ Tate representing the US at the 2007 championships on a 6yo:

Couldn't find that many videos of the winners, and couldn't find any of US Natl Champions. Maybe I'm just not that good at the youtube search :)

I think Waterloo S. E. who won the 4-year old championships in Kentucky last year is on Youtube... Just search for his name. Now he's only 3 in the video there, but you will get an idea of his gaits.

enjoy!

Well, thanks you guys.... :-) I thought he was pretty special, too. I now have his full brother who just won No. 1 foal at the Hedgeland keuring and I think he's going to be even better than his big brother. He's certainly prettier... :-) When I get the video clips from the keuring I will try to post them on Youtube as well.

siegi b and some of the other breeders on these BBs really have a LOT to be proud of--their stock is as good as anything out there in Europe.

Other sites for young horse include www.horse-gate.com, all the verbands, including
www.oldenburghorse.com (the webmaster also posts here) which has right now fabulous foals, Bundeschampionat and of course--Quaterback.

ANd if you ask Theo nicely, amk sure he can point you to videos of some incredible Dutch horses.

Yes I can. But these day I am working on the YoungHorse selection from 1980and upwards, and I hope you don't mind my statement that many of these youngsters never made it to the top in competition or breeding.

Well, most youngsters don't make it to the top in competition or breeding, whether or not they get a public start to their careers, ha ha.

Not to highjack this thread...but...everyone says that the horses and the riding have improved so much, yadda-yadda, and yet if one looks back at the last Olympics, approximately 22-25% get 70 or better in the GP. Pretty consistently. Over many years.

So it doesnt look like the riding or the horses are improving that much,eh?
