When I was 5 months pregnant, I got it in my head that our as yet unborn daughter NEEDED a pony. I blame the hormones. I found an adorable, sweet, greenbroke 3 yo paint mare thinking that after my daughter was born, I'd have time to school the pony and get her ready for when my daughter is big enough to sit ride.
OK, I was wrong...I admit it. I don't even have time during the day to sneeze much less ride a green pony. Not to mention the fact that somehow I gained a ton of weight while pregnant (I swear I don't know how that happened!) and I think I'm too heavy for pony now, and I realize that it doesn't make sense for a pony to sit in our pasture for 5 or 6 years until DD is ready to ride.
All that said, Doodlebug needs an advanced child or intermediate small adult to call her own for a while. She's a bay tobiano, I measured her at 13.3 & 3/4 this morning, she's a cute mover, UTD on everything, good manners, good for the farrier. She doesn't hop right on the trailer, but if given time she'll get on (she's only been trailered twice in her life). She's greenbroke - has about 10 rides on her. She's never offered to buck, kick, rear or do anything silly. When we went to look at her, her old owner hopped on her bareback and ran her around the pasture. So she needs someone who knows what they're doing, but could easily be a lead line horse tomorrow. She's build pretty stocky and is borderline fat right now - she's got a HUGE grass belly and looks 12 months pregnant. She's barefoot and sound but her feet are pretty upright so they require routine trims.
She might make a NICE pony broodie too. She may be homozygous for color as she's got some homozygous characteristics and both parents were tobis.
I'd like for her to stay in the GA, SC or North FL area so that I can check on her. Not a giveaway but a long term free lease as I still have visions of my daughter riding this pony in 5 - 10 years!
