My grandmother just passed away and my relatives have left me to deal with her horse and donkey. I've talked my uncle into caring for them for at least a week, but after that he's planning on sending them to the sale. I REALLY don't want to take a chance with them at the sale since they were very loved by my grandmother. I am not located anywhere near there and I'm a college student with no extra money (I spent the last of my "fun" money flying out to the funeral), so I can't be there to do anything in person.
These guys are in Sugar Valley, GA, about a half hour away from Sunkissed Acres. This part is frustrating since I'm broke and so far away, but they are not UTD on shots as far as I'm aware and neither has had a coggins or left the property since they moved there.
First one is a 3 year old standard jack with an adorable refined face, though he somehow hasn't been 'snipped' yet since he's been so far away from me. He's probably around 12 hh (maybe??). He's leery of humans, but loves the attention once he gets over his shyness. He is very good at guarding against anything coming into his pasture, but he is not very dominant in a herd situation and will get beaten up by others if they so please. I've been told he can be bribed with feed, but I wasn't able to get near him yesterday when I went to deworm him.
Second one is going to be hard as hell to find a home for since he's not registereds. He's gaited and I'm sure he's at least part TWH, 9-10ish years old, somewhere around 15hh, and the only training he recieved was when I was a crazy teenager and hopped on him to go on trail rides. He's very laid back and loves humans and will let people hop all over him and stand on his back without a halter on in the pasture (Please don't do this...I was a crazy teenager at that time) without moving.
He has pretty decent conformation for a backyard horse, but he's got pretty flat hindquarters (it may be a TWH thing). He looked a bit wormy when I was there yesterday, so I did stop at the feedstore down the street from the funeral home and gave him some Ivermectin. Also, either he's been rubbing the hair off his face or he has some fungus. I think this one would be a VERY easy guy to train and be great for beginners with a bit of work.
I'll see if I have any pictures. Please PM me!!! These guys need upgraded, so I may allow them to be used for a resale project tot he right person. This is a desperate situation since the horse doesn't have much of a hope at auction, but if possible, I would like references (another COTHer, trainer, farrier, vet, or anything) just to make sure that they won't get dropped off to a bad situation.
