My new Boz saddle arrived yesterday! I can't wait to ride in it! It took almost 6 months but it's in my hands. Of course it's raining so I may have to wait a day to test ride it.

Yeah, congratulations. It is very pretty. i wonder how long that white fleece stays white?

I am anxiously awaiting my custom Specialized. It has been 4 months! I am riding in an old SPecilaized which is very nice, but I just can't wait, did I say that yet?

Happy for you. Let us know how it works out for you!

I was thinking too, "It's so WHITE!" It looks comfy. This is treeless? Hope it stops raining, it must be killing you to just look at it.

I got to ride in it today. I rode our 14 hand Mexican Mustang gelding, Jet, and our 13.1 hand pinto pony mare, Sky. Jet has very prominent withers and is narrow. Sky is wider, normal withers and longer backed. It fit both of them well and was very comfortable for me. Jet has a lot of suspension when he moves and it was very comfortable. Sky has even bigger movement and I was able to sit her trot, no problem. I'm looking forward to lots more rides in the future.

The seat is sheepskin (not synthetic fleece) and actually stays pretty true to color. I had one that was 15 years old and still pretty white. It sort of yellows with age. It is a treed saddle but the tree is flexible. Plus the panels underneath are neoprene with sheepskin and are moveable and can be replaced with different sizes. It's a pretty cool design.

I can't wait to use it on a trail ride!

Mine is a Bob Marshall Sports Saddle. It arrived on Monday, and I was able to get my first ride in it on Tuesday. I've got a weak hip that gets fatigued quickly, and the first ride left me with some questions, one of which was whether the BMSS offered me enough support. The other was whether my horse was comfortable in it, since he cantered with his head up and a hollow back. He'd been spooky that day, which was nearly 20 deg cooler than usual, so I didn't know if it was the saddle or the weather.

Got another ride in it on Thursday. I had asked Chicamuxen for advice, and boy did she offer some helpful ideas! I subbed out the leathers and stirrups, shortened the stirrups, stopped trying to post like I was in an equitation class (some habits die hard), and WOW, what a difference!

We even had two unexpected trials: trying to around get a fallen tree we ended up knee deep in clingy mud; and when we got out of the mud, we had to go up a vertical hill to escape. I don't know how tall the hill was, but it wasn't one I would normally voluntarily scale. Moon kind of bolted up the hill, since he was upset about the mud. Saddle and I both stayed secure (fitted with breastplate and crupper). Phew!! After that, it was a quick push through about 10 feet of stickers and low branches to get out of the woods. I thought, "Crap, I've bought the saddle now!" Not even a scratch, even though I was bleeding in a couple of places and had ripped my pants.

Some time after that we had a nice long gallop. I was able to stay in two point easily and could feel his back rounding up under me. Very cool. Weak leg never gave out, I felt balanced, and stayed secure. So I've found my saddle. Woohoo!! I've been searching for the right saddle for me and my horse for 2 years now.

I hope you like your Boz as much as I like my BMSS!!

matryoshka - so glad you found a saddle you like!

I've gotten in 2 rides on our pinto mare, Sky. The saddle is very comfortable on her and she did great! I also snuck in a ride on our Mexican Mustang gelding, Jet. He's got really high withers and the saddle fit him really well.

So far, so good!

Your new saddle looks like a fluffy cloud. I can't imagine how nice it will be to sit in : )

Is that a compass at the front?

Yes, it has a built in compass. It's super comfortable, especially with Sky who has a huge trot. I can't wait to test it out on a long trail ride. I'm going to make one upgrade - I'm going to swap out the stirrups for endurance stirrups.

I keep looking at it and now I just want to sit in the damn thing! It looks so comfortable. Do you wear short shorts just so you can feel the cushiness of it?;) I think we need pics of it on a horse.

wow, it looks so comfy for both horse and rider. Why did it take six months? Is it an on-demand manufacturing process? Wonderful that it fits both of your "kids".

I don't like riding in shorts but it's definitely something you can do with this saddle! The saddle is incredibly comfy.

Tropical Storm Hannah is supposed to hit here tomorrow. Rain is supposed to start tonight. Sunday should be nice so I'm hoping to get some pics of the saddle on each horse then.

Each saddle is custom made to your specs and most of it is still hand made so it takes quite a while. It averages about 4-5 months. The saddle actually came with the English flaps which isn't what I ordered so Boz issued a call tag and it was returned to him to have the right seat/flaps put on (it took an extra 2 weeks to have it shipped back, fixed, and shipped to me). He told me that he doesn't make very many mistakes but unfortunately mine was one of them. I was totally freaking out that it wasn't what I remembered but I am very happy with it so far!
