willowoodstables
Aug. 18, 2008, 07:15 AM
Apparently Ole hit the second jump rails and didn't come out of yesterdays round sound. That leaves it up to Captain Canada, Jill and ERIC THE GOD to get us a Medal

Anyone know what those things were on the back of the Brazilian rider's right knee?
If it's some new-fangled knee brace I want to know about it!

I watched all this yesterday, then went to the Vt. Summer Festival for the GP. Up Chiqui would fit in with these...

It's some special support tape. Our best beach volleyball player uses it on her shoulder. I think it would work better under the breeches, though. Unless her breeches are what needs the support!

Aug. 18, 2008, 07:36 AM
The water jump is gonna be a killer again!!

Madeline
Aug. 18, 2008, 07:39 AM
Interesting that there is no triple today. I'm still waiting for them to jump the bridge and the topiary dragons. Maybe in the individual...

GreystoneKC
Aug. 18, 2008, 07:40 AM
I think that red and black dragon jump (4) is my favourite so far of the games...
I really like that wall/plank jump too (11?), but that dragon is amazing!!!
I think that very plain white-ish jump (i think it's 3) is beautiful too.

willowoodstables

Hong Kong refusal

willowoodstables
Aug. 18, 2008, 07:43 AM
36 faults for Patrick Lam of HK

GreystoneKC
Aug. 18, 2008, 07:43 AM
Zorro = Bad Day :(

I need to get me some of that tape. Yeah I'm not exactly sure how it would be effective on top of britches! LOL

Not sure about the water jump... seems like it's in a much better spot that if it's ridden well, it should give nearly as much trouble. More approach strides, softer bend, better angle.

willowoodstables
Aug. 18, 2008, 07:49 AM
Go Dennis..me likey Lintus

Guin
Aug. 18, 2008, 07:50 AM

GreystoneKC
Aug. 18, 2008, 07:53 AM
Irish boy's sure got some hang time! I love how the rider lets the horse dfrop his head all the way down after the jump before bringing him up...so soft. Beautiful round. Too bad for the water tape touch. He deserved to be clear in my book.

Ah crap. Can we throw Torchy up instead? Let's hope she got it out of her system yesterday.

bird4416
Aug. 18, 2008, 08:00 AM
I think the black thing on the Brazilian rider was a brace, not tape, as it had buckles. I noticed it yesterday and have really been looking at it and it definitely has buckles.

willowoodstables
Aug. 18, 2008, 08:00 AM
Ah crap. Can we throw Torchy up instead? Let's hope she got it out of her system yesterday.

Sisu.. I've been watching her ride from day one ( I'm old LOL) and there are times I could just slap her off the horse...lets hope she doesn't freeze, cause when she gets her balls together she can be awesome

Stubborn Mare
Aug. 18, 2008, 08:06 AM
For those of you who haven't heard, John Whitaker and Peppermill are definitely out, but NOT because of the horse's condition... due to rule technicalities and an objection lodged by all the other teams bar Germany. If only Peppermill had been walked through the starters yesterday. Sigh... Bring on London 2012!!!

willowoodstables
Aug. 18, 2008, 08:08 AM
I kinda agree with the commitee's judgement..if he had gone thru the starters and then withdrawn, that would have been better than nothing I suppose..Look at Mac and Ole today..this could put them out of the individuals as well?? Maybe it IS best for the horse to stay out and get sound for next time

Bad ride to 2 for NS and Russell. A lot of these horses today are getting into things crooked or jumping off to the side in the air! Still a neat horse, but I was not impressed with that round today...

Big and flowy, but still with a few tighter turns and stride adjustments... 3 doubles. One with 2 liverpools, one tight vertical-vertical one longer oxer-oxer. Seems more forward and flowy than yesterday to me.

She looked thrilled. There was a hard rub and the next to last fence and I think she thought it went down.

Ok so I'm one to not care much about the hair, these girls are here at the Olympics and can do whatever they wanna do with their hair, it doesn't take away from the fact that they are some of the best riders of the world.
However, what is it with Laura's helmet??? Her harness is sooo loose, if she came off that horse her helmet would go flying!!!

And yay!!! A clean round!!
