I know the Irish bought her last year for a considerable sum, I was expecting to see her at the Olympics or at least at some of the big upper level events, considering how much she was worth to them. Anyone know how she's doing?

I heard they sold her back to Bruce for much less than they bought her for because no one over there could ride her. I don't remember where I heard this or any other details, so hopefully others can shed more light! :)

I've been wondering the same thing.

Maybe some COTHer has some inside info. ;)

and then I recall when I looked at Bruce's website a few months back she was listed. I just assumed the sale to to the Irish never went through.

She is still on Bruce Davidson's website:

She's listed as available for egg donation, not for sale, unless I'm reading it wrong.

She was purchased by Jane Doherty from Ireland and did her last event there in April. Not sure what happened after that, looked a lovely mare.

I also have a hunch that Bruce's website may not be exactly up to date. There are a few horses on his sale page who are off with new owners competing and have been for some time now. Also, the most recent "Past Event" listed was Rolex in '07, and I'm sure he's been out and about since then!

Is is another example of British English idioms not making sense to an American?

Since the cat seems to be out of the bag......

Yes... Jammie should be home in a week or two. Everyone is very excited to see her again but none are as excited as her dad!

LOL Probably!!! I'd be excited too if I was him... those two work so well together, I just couldn't imagine someone else riding her as well as him.

I'll never forget the beaming smile on his face when he rode out of the arena at Over The Walls in... '03? She'd just sailed around their Prelim showjump course, and through his grin, all he could say was "she was jumping for fun". Still makes me smile to think of it. They were both so happy to be doing what they were doing. :):):):):) I can't wait to see that partnership back at it again!

It's been no secret that Jayne Doherty has had ongoing woes (both legal and financial) concerning the purchase of Glen Corran from Rodney Powell and her subsequent lawsuit when the horse failed to pass the vet exam. She and her husband had been looking to reduce their numbers in the stable, and it made the most sense to sell off the one horse she couldn't ride well enough to consistently place in any events.

I'm just glad it's all working out for Bruce.

And Saskatoonian, Jayne was on the Irish Olympic eventing team with Art Attack.

Bruce told me at Maui Jim (last month) that he'd made an offer on her - and he couldn't keep the ear to ear grin of his face!

Did he buy her back once before - when she was very young?

Yes .... she was sold as a green baby and sold back to him as she was too green for the people who bought her.
She really isn't difficult to ride ...I have ridden her a few times in the past. She can be playful out hacking and on gallops when she is fit, but she is dreamy to do dressage on.

In ?2004? I was hacking around the field in Ocala with Bruce and asked him what his favorite thing about Jammie was. He simply said "She's perfect.". For Bruce to say that, I knew she really must be the cat's meow so to speak.

I really hope that she returns home safe and sound to continue her career with Bruce. THey were a great team.

Just for the record though One Star, Jayne was not on the Irish olympic event squad this year.

Not on the squad that ended up competing in Beijing, but she was on the reserve list.

You're right she was on a reserve list. Perhaps I was being a little harsh using Sasha as the end of the squad.
