I hope everyone will plan to attend the USEA Annual Meeting in New Orleans December 11-14, 2008. In addition to fantastic programming and fabulous setting, our sport clearly needs a lot of voice from its membership and this is a great way to network with people, listen to presentations, and engage with the association.
To have less than 30 people managing a membership of over 14,000 is SIGNIFICANT and our staff does a helluva job putting together a super-quality meeting each year. Information about the meeting is available at http://www.useventing.com/aboutus.php?section=convention.
Please plan to attend. New Orleans was the intended setting in 2005 prior to the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. Not only does the city need your tourism, but our association needs your support.
See y'all there!

Robby, I'll be there. Got my flight reserved and my room reserved! Can't wait. Was supposed to go in 2005 and ended up going to Charlotte instead, but now I'm ready for New Orleans coffee and beignets!

Yup, we'll be there too! I know of three Area III'ers coming in my vehicle for sure. :D RBJ, will you be for hire as a NOLA tour guide? I should convince my bro to tag along too . . .
Hmm -- will start working on that one! :D

I've already put in my request to be off from work. Haven't done the room/travel yet, but the husband and I are planning on attending. It will be the first USEA Convention for both of us and we are looking forward to it!

LOL, I'm not sure the places I would tour you would be respectable but, sure, we'll all go on a FQ walk if that's your desire!
I'm actually doing a presentation on pilates and riding. I can't wait!
(Yes on your bro for sure.)

I highly recommend going. I went to Colorado last year and had a blast and learned alot. It was fantastic getting to meet and talk with the stars of the sport up close and personal.
The seminars I didn't think would mean much to me at my level(low level amature) but they were very informative and I learned alot that did apply to me. The people, well, there is nothing to say except they are eventers and know how to party and are very friendly!!!LOL

There are lots of neat things to do in New Orleans that aren't necessarily in the French Quarter but are close. I love going Uptown/Garden District, and the shopping on Magazine Street is awesome. I am working to put together a list which will be published via USEA.
Just mark your calendars and plan to attend. I will take the first 100 who commit on this thread pole dancing. Prepare yourselves!

Robby, I'll come if you promise to do the Pilates demo wearing your horsey thong!
That would be worth the trip!
Also, is Lucinda Green the keynote speaker? I. Love. her.

I am an area III young rider, and I plan on coming. My friend and her mom are planning to attend as well! It is perfect timing, because my brother leaves for his freshmen year at tulane in two weeks!

ROFL, I think that got re-homed years back! I am teaching and have some "famous" models lined up as clients. But you know, it's me, so expect slutty clothing for sure.

This is THE place to go for a little R&R. Bowling, music, beer & fun. A hidden gem in N.O. for a lot of fun!

Egads. Mid-City Lanes. Is it still open all night? When I lived in NO, we used to go there around 3 or 4 am. The pin setting machines were still manually operated then and we used to engage in all sorts of bowling sabotage, which got us kicked out on one occasion.
I'm not like that anymore...

RBJ -- I fully expect to be counted as one of the first 100 to sign up -- I think I need to add pole dancing to my repertoire :D
My little brother swears he is gonna join us . . .
adamsmom -- If you are as "not much fun" as I am guessing, we could have a fantastic time! ;)
Libby (who, if i am considering pole dancing, you know must have my brain warped by an August camping weekend in which my trailer a/c died half way through)

Holy Cow! I was seriously tempted last week when I heard the the keynote address is to be by Lucinda. Throw in a RJ tour of Interesting Places and I may not be able to stay away.
I've never been to Convention. Trying to do anything else but kids and Christmas in the same month was unfathomable. (Especially after I had left them with mr. subk a dozen weekends earlier in the year.) They're older now so this may be the year...

I really want to come, but so far Mr. Auburn hasn't been too enthusied. If I mention "pole dancing", that just might do the trick. Thanks, Robby!!

I'm pretty certain I'll be there. I found a partner in crime who said they want to go.
And the pole-dancing offer! Done deal.

I wish I could come! Our family is so spread out that I just can't fit in another trip during the holidays, but it sounds like it is shaping up to be a great event.

Bump... was going to go, but too much traveling in too little time (headed out of town for Xmas too) and I really couldn't justify the expense. I am bummed. :(

I'm going. Still trying to talk the DD into taking some time off from riding to come with me. She is a Pilates girl, so maybe that being taught by RBJ will be my carrot. I'll mention the chance to do some pole dancing and see what kind of *reaction!* I get. LOL

I wish I could go, especially since I am on the Leaderboard for the first time ever, but it is just too expensive to fly and too far to drive :(.

I am with Catalina.
I booked my room a few weeks ago. When I looked at the cost of a flight, plus the cost of the convention, I could not justify spending the $1,000 it would take. The continued downturn of the economy has sealed my decision. :(
If you are not there to recieve a ribbon, does the USEA mail it to you?
