Did he really ride 15 horses?
I can't imagine what all the entry fees added up to!
Go Boyd! Please ride at Fair Hill CCI***.

The results aren't up yet, but the ride times reflect 15 rides.

Could someone explain to me if there is a limit to the number of mounts a rider can have during an event? I thought there was a number -
15 horses is something I wouldn't want to juggle.

As far as I know - the organizer decides if there is a max # of horses per rider allowed and it is stated in the omnibus.

As someone explained on another thread, Fair Hill runs as two, one-day horse trials, so he rode 7 intermediate horses in a one-day trials on Saturday (whew! I have enough trouble doing all three phases on ONE horse in one day!) and 8 horses at prelim and novice on the following day's one-day trials. I don't imagine there was much sitting around ...

They also run sj and xc back to back...which makes things much easier. I know all the prelim horses (6) on Sunday had good clear trips including two that it was their first prelim. Remember, he's young and fit (and a very good rider) and has a good support team. That is probably fewer horses then he normally rides on a daily basis.

It is one of the things that widens the gap between the ammies and pros (and between pros and pros)....in one event, he ran around Inter. and Prelm xc more times than most people do in a year. That is the type of experience that helps create a great xc rider.

I was a xc jump judger there on sunday (prelim roll top #7, and novice log with straw #3)
According to my program, he rode:
7 at intermediate on saturday. 6 at preliminary and 2 at novice on sunday.

Most if not all were probably client horses, so they pay his entry fees, trailering, etc. and he just rides :D
pretty sweet job if you ask me!

The ride times give him 7 on Sat. (first ride is at 8am, last cross country is 1250)

7 on Sunday (first ride 8am, last cross country 432pm). Sat looks like it would have been tough. He has 6 rides on Sun in about the same time frame as Sat, then a bit of a break between PRelim cross country and Novice, but a 1014 dressage time followed by a 1030 stadium time on a different horse has got to be tough!

So how did she do???

She was a star. 37.5 dressage and jumped clean and easy. Looked great. Boyd gave her a wonderful confident ride which is just what she needed.
