View Full Version : A Big THANK YOU

Someone was very thoughtful, generous and kind, and I would like to thank them!

I have a suspicion it is someone on the eventing forum................

A little while back I mentioned that I was feeling very sorry for myself, since I have a badly broken foot. (is there any such thing as a nicely broken foot?).
As part of my self-indulgent whine, I mentioned: "please send KitKats".

A couple of days ago, a box arrived from an anonymous COTH member, sending me get well wishes, and, BIG BOX OF KIT KATS!!!!!

I don't know who did it, but I just want to say thank you, lovely person, very much. You made my day!!!

Gail - Sorry your foot is broken, badly or well and truly! Missed that news whenever you posted it, but glad someone noticed.

We recently took in a "barn cat" (ahem, who seems rather fond of air conditioning, who can blame her) who just might be pregnant. Don't suppose you'd like a small box of KITtens to cheer you up??:D

Wasn't me who sent the KitKats (what a nice thing for someone to do!!!) but wanted to give you my news in hopes it might cheer you up..... I had badly broken my ankle on May 11th (1 plate, 1 pin and six screws worth:eek:). I am 58 years old and thought it might end my riding days. Nope! Had my first ride back this morning, and all went well. Sure helps that I have one of the dearest, bombproof Arabians on this earth, but I had no problems or discomfort mounting, riding, or dismounting. So hoping you have the same results after your recouperation!

So glad that someone cheered you up! It also might cheer you up to hear that our A Fine Romance babies are the nicest movers in the barn!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery! My friend here in TX w/Fred baby reports that "Tiffany" is doing well despite a bit of a late start under saddle (due to her own multiple babes last Sept).

Mr Blarney-Eire of Romance-Sweetums sends his condolences and best wishes for your quick recovery. He doesn't know kit kats but highly recommends starlight mints.

Awww. Sounds like someone here likes to commit Random Acts of Kindness and Senseless Acts of Beauty. Good job! :D

Fred! I had no idea that you had been injured!

Are you in an aircast or the real thing? I can send you my aircast if you need one: a friend's horse broke my ankle in February.

The good news is that we do heal, although I found that the weight I gained on layup is NOT going away any time soon.

Did Sadie give you a lovely gift this spring?

Actually, given your exploits over the last couple of years, I think we need all COTHers to send you bubble wrap in which to encase yourself!

Jingles and continued healing thoughts.

well and truly, Jeanette!
thank you for the kind offer. Whilst a box of KITtens would no doubt cheer me up, (momentarily at least) I really, really, really don't want any.
thanks, though.

exactly so, poltroon - so very thoughtful!
I was hoping the 'culprit' might step forward though..................
so that I could thank her personally.

Debra - that's great to hear, and raises my spirits too! where are these babies?

mbj - hugs to Blarney

frugal - aircast - but it (the foot) got infected, then there was the threat of blood clots (boo hiss) and now the break is worse.
oh well. It will get better I know!

toadies' mom - that is great news too! which baby is that?

congratulations eventgroupie! I bet that felt wonderful.

Kitkats are Canadian and I think British chocolate bars. "there's always time for a KitKat" :)
Made by Cadbury's, as are Smarties.
I put them in the freezer, and refused to share. ;)

It wasn't me, but here's another virtual Kit Kat! :)

Anyone remember Snik-Snaks? Same concept, I thought they were better. Candy in general is sweeter than it used to be, and that's not an improvement. But I digress.

Happy healing, Fred! :)

Fred, please make room in your farm mailbox for new messages. Tuppence and Blarney want to say hello and update you and wish you well and are too shy to post here.

Oh, no, Fred!!!I don't know how I missed that news- I'm so sorry to hear that:(. Are you taking lots of glucosamine?- it heals bones quickly.
Virtual Kit-Kats coming from the coast where we've had the most gorgeous weather.
Would it give you a happy "Kit-Kat" feeling to know that Fanny and little Miss Vida (now not-so little :D:lol: at 3 MONTHS OLD) are doing great!!! Vida's just a sweetheart and sooo clever! Fanny's still the proud doting mother.
Maybe your DH can play the Coldplay song "Viva la VIDA" for you in his own imaginative way:)
Anyway, Fanny, Vida and I all wish you to GET WELL SOON!!!!

If I whine REALLY LOUDLY will you send me some Flakes? ;) (Just kidding really, I am getting fat!)

I used to live in the UK, a long time ago, and a big treat was an ice cream cone (the ice cream came wrapped in a paper) with a Flake chocolate bar stuck in. how yummy was that???

mbj, my computer is a mystery to me - it crashed, I lost ALL my files, and now it is bouncing emails. I'll keep trying.
Is Tuppence doing well, I hope?

thank you fanfayre and deltawave for the virtual Kitkats, they are less fattening than the real ones. ;)
great to hear your baby is doing well ff, and that Mom is being a good mom. I'd love to see pictures.
Deltawave, hugs to your beautiful Gwennie.

It's true, chocolate bars are sweeter than they used to be. and smaller.

That was a "99" and you can get a virtual lick here;

I LOVE 99s!!! I haven't enjoyed North American ice cream (if you can call that stuff ice cream) since the last time I was in England and stuffed myself with 99s, and that was 25 years ago! Oh, great, now I've aged myself:lol:!
Thanks Fred, now I have the WORST Flake cravings, luckily the corner store just down from the barn stocks them, so I can cure it, or I may have to go to Costco and buy a box:D.
On Sunday, on my way back home from the event at which I had competed (to keep this totally HR), while waiting for my ferry I walked through the ferry terminal "Quay" http://www.tsawwassenquay.com/, an over-priced, indoor market, and they had a gelato stand. I splurged and bought a cone for $5.50:eek::eek::eek: for a single ($6.50 for a double scoop), but boy, was it GOOD!
Hey, Fred- you should come over here on a healing get-away and we can test out the fine ice cream establishments on the island, especially in Victoria, since it's like being in Britain there!!! I'm sure we can even find a 99!
Out of curiosity, I checked flights, and one can fly out here return for under $600!!!! From either Toronto or Hamilton. (hint, hint
