Darling I know all about it and their budget and the man who is acting as agent for this particular lady rider. What do you want to know?

That's an interesting turn of events, so to speak. There was a lengthy thread on the dressage board about the amount of horses imported to the US and the belief that the only good warmblood is an imported warmblood.
It is nice to know people find the US has something to offer in horseflesh also!

It is more to do with the weak american dollar!!! The rider is very picky about the horses she wants....they have already approached a few who did not sell.

Hmm might this be the same lady rider that bought Nova Top and Jenga in recent years??

That was my other thought, but I prefer to think the US has something to offer...helps me sleep at night and all....
They approached horse owners who do not have their horses on the market? I have seen that done before, but it is not that usual. That is definitely someone that knows what they are looking for and not willing to compromise. Very difficult to work with, I would imagine. But likely to be a very satisfied customer if they get what they are looking for and all.

Snoopy -- there you go again -- sounding like "Deep Throat"!
If you aren't careful, though, Wynn just might be able to piece together your true identity! ;)
Would you by any chance be Hal Holbrook?

Surely they should be shopping for an eventer in Australia!
Much better value for money in Oz, your US prices are hugely inflated in comparison (even with your weak $).
Shipping from Australia is so easy too as there is no quarantine since we are disease free and shipment will cost <$15,000.

Snoop, these may not be the same folks, then--the very last impression I got was that they had some specific ride in mind. Of course, it could be the same folks you think it is, but they are also shopping for other things or are working off a whim or something. The gent who spoke English best said they were having a hard time finding "eventing ponies" in Ocala and that all the farms were racing barns--that didn't sound to me like they were experienced at this, but one of the gents was on the Italian team at some point--but his English wasn't good enough for a direct conversation. On the phone, I was told they were specifically looking for ponies and had called me because someone had directed them to me. (That changed to "found you in a directory" later--but it could be that they found my contact info via the directory after being told to look for it there--I dunno. Communication was not good.)
The reason I asked this was because they expressed interest in someone's Prelim-ready 16+ hander which I knew was being tried at Rocking Horse today and I thought they were interested in seeing two of mine school there, too (but, as with a lot of stuff, there was no follow through--don't know if it was the language thing or what). So I posted this to find out if they were worth me going up to RH with two or not. I decided to just take the one I would have taken to the schooling show there yesterday (but didn't because these folks took up the whole morning). As it turned out, they neither called the person showing the Prelim mare, nor called or showed up about mine.
AND to add to my suspicions about their motives (or maybe you can just call it CONFUSION!), before leaving on Saturday, the last question the gent asked me was if I knew of anyone with OTTBs for sale! I sent them around the corner to Peggy Pfieffer and saw them off, thinking "What the hell was that all about?" [BTW, the gent did say they'd bought a horse from Nicolas Touzaint: I set them up at my dining room table to watch NT's ride on the live feed, but then we found out he'd scratched.] Does this, a family of five, plus a trainer (I think--I didn't even get names!) sound like the folks you are thinking of? Frankly, I'm inclined to just write them off.
EZmissg, I've stopped trying to out Snoop. Such a good guy deserves his privacy.

The Italians that I am familiar with are looking specifically for Advanced Event horses for a Team Rider. These sound like two different set of folks. But I will say that they are particular about what they want...The gent you would have been dealing with is an insurance agent who deals with the agent. Rider not involved at this point.
And as for being a good "hound"...well shucks!!!:D
