See, i tuned in during the second 1/2 of kyle's test and thought it was quite solid, definitely not a 60's test. Was the first 1/2 that bad??

Jazzy Lady
Aug. 8, 2008, 07:55 PM
Nope. The first was like the second half. It was "conservative" and he wasn't pushing for the mediums like he could since Parker was on the verge of exploding, but other than a buck and a bit of jump in his flyings, it was pretty steady. I was very suprised they put him in the 60s. Although David did not look super excited about it after it was over... the Irish guy was stoked for his test mark. I would be too... I was expecting high 60's for him.

I'm surprised the scores aren't more dispersed. I thought there'd be a few in the 70s by now--I really thought a couple deserved 70s. Shouldn't relaxation (or lack thereof) have more impact? IMO, the scores don't seem to reflect that: horses with flawed movements score about the same as horses with flawed movements AND major tension (and even cessation of forward motion entirely).

For a blisteringly hot mare, she sure puts in a steady test, doesn't she? I can see how she makes up for the ordinary movement by her steadiness and accuracy (except that whopper big extended trot!).

I head what sounded like a cluck, but I've heard that in dressage tests before--I think it is/could be the sound of the leather bite slapping the saddle flap with the rider's outside leg moves in that sharp way some use it. (Although I wouldn't thikn that'd be the way Brit would be ridden--too sharp a mare for any such "sharp" leg aid!)

Not to mention I though the olympic dressage tests included more advanced moves? Maybe i'm mistaken.... Seems like these are fairly basic moves with nothing to difficult thrown in..
