My TB filly was weaned a couple of weeks ago. She is the only foal on the property and so far none of the adult horses that I paired her up with worked real well. I put my goat out with her today and that went fine for the filly but almost killed the goat. She hadn't gone any faster than a waddle in years and the filly chased her all over the place. I had to give her a bath in the washstall to get her to stop panting.
I would need something small because they would be in a stall together when brought in at feeding time or in bad weather. I can't afford to add another animal to the herd permanently so I would return the babysitter when the filly was big enough to go out in the mare's field. Doesn't need to be rideable and will be on a dry lot more or less, so no founder worries with grass.
I guess I would consider moving her somewhere nearby Forest Hill/Bel Air MD if any of you have an only foal that needs a buddy.
Thanks!

I have a yearling pony that's just hanging out you could borrow. He's about 12 hands right now and very friendly. I'm near Harrisburg PA so not too far away.

Start the COTH train's wheels a running! I promise he will come back in as good if not better condition than he left. Think she is close enough to black for Pooh?

;)
If everything else falls through....we have the 30+yo Morgan mare that has taught many babies their manners while showing the motherly love when they get weaned.
This mare is older, been there, but is tremondous in so many ways. Super surrogate after the weaning. Super mare, I can't say enough.
I tried to offer her to a good home here on CoTH...but many ppl are leary I guess. We'd take her back when done.
If you have kids...they can still ride her lightly too.
You can PM me if everything else fails. I'm in Pa near Reading. Baltimore isn't far.

I have a little arab cross pony coming tomorrow for a trial. Hopefully it works out, but if not thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into them further if needed.
