My inlaws have a cat/kittens that have taken up residence in their yard. The mother cat is not too feral since she allows me to touch her briefly. The kittens are adorable and friendly. I picked up each of them and held them without a problem. Their eyes are a mess. I don't have any experience with newborn kittens and I know their eyes are closed initially but these guys all had at least one eye crusted shut. One poor kitten had both eyes closed. I used a wet cloth to moisten them back open, but by the time we left a couple hours later they were closing back up.
These are such sweet kittens that don't have much of a future if nobody wants them. The tom cats in the neighborhood will kill them when they are past the weaning stage. Inlaws aren't in an area that has a rescue for cats or anything, and they aren't "animal people". It is very rural, and not a kitten safe environment. Lots of wildlife (bears, snakes, stray dogs, hawks, and as I mentioned stray tom cats).
I would be happy to pick up a kitten when they are weaned (perhaps even earlier, if someone has the time to bottle feed) and hold them in Greenville for you to pick one up if you can seriously commit to one and pick up within 24 hours of my relocating it to Greenville. It would be very sad to have to seperate them from mom this early, they're probably only about two weeks old, but getting them out of that area is the most ideal situation. Right now they are basically on a death sentence.
4 kittens - don't know if they're male or female but there is one solid black, one gray, and two white ones with just a patch of gray on their heads. Mom cat is black with medium fur length. Of course, if someone wanted to take mom, I could probably get her as well. I think she'd make a great barn cat too. She's comfortable around people and is obviously used to living outdoors.
