I agreed to foster these two cats for my friend's rescue, because they are wonderful and perfect and I thought it would be a piece of cake to adopt them out... HA! I've been posting them on Craigslist twice a week for two months and haven't had a single inquiry on them. :( (Gotta love kitten season.) They are really tired of having to share my basement with all the foster kittens and want a home of their own! So thought I'd post them here...
I'm calling them Jack and Jill. They were left in a box at a bus stop at the beginning of June. Amazingly, they just sat in their box together and waited to be rescued.
They are two of the friendliest, sweetest, NICEST cats I've ever met, and are very bonded to each other, so I'm trying to find them a home together. They are fixed, current on vaccinations, negative for FIV/FELV, and even microchipped (courtesy of the rescue). They're about a year old... probably last year's kittens.
Jilly is a shorthair brown tabby with white, very very affectionate and people-oriented. Jack is a longhaired brown tabby and white with a BIG poufy tail, and is a bit more laid back, but will sit in a vacant lap any chance he gets. Both are still very playful, but not as crazy as kittens. They are also both extremely friendly -- they'll walk right up to anyone and say hello!
Jill is IN LOVE with my black lab, although Jack is not so fond of her, so I don't know if they are both used to dogs, but it just takes Jack longer to come around, or what... but I think they would do fine with cat-friendly dogs. They get along OK with other cats, but would probably prefer to have their new owner all to themselves. ;)
I am seriously amazed that I've had such a hard time adopting these guys out... they're super-nice cats!
At the suggestion of my friend at the rescue, I even took some videos... you can see Jilly here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_RYf9CvZHs) and here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpkjbkTw_Ns), and Jack here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncNn60NnJus). Pictures are below...
The rescue charges a $150 adoption fee for the two (which includes activating their microchips and a 30-day "shelter care" type health plan), but if a COTHer wants them, I'll pay $50 of it myself. I really want these guys to find a home SOON!
