16 y/o TB gelding, 15.3 hands, Bay with a star and partial coronet on the left front. Has been trained through 2nd level dressage, and could be a great partner for the right rider. He needs an educated and sensitive rider to get along with. Due to aging he stays sound at the lower levels but cannot continue into collection. Does not jump.

He is kitten quiet on the ground with lovely manners. Gets along with other horses, but is low man on the totem pole. Has been a great companion for younger horses in the past.

I would like to find him a semi/retirement home as a free-lease situation. He will only go to the right home, and I am in no hurry. .

The photos were nice. Whereabouts in PA are you and Gershwin?

And in what way does the aging show? (i.e. in a particular joint, how often/how long can he be ridden, etc. -- just trying to figure out what is comfortable for him.)

Thanks for any additional info!

I may be retiring my OTTB soundness issues...and I might be looking for a horse that I can just have some fun with..I like to W-t-c and trail ride...and ground drive! can you tell me if he has any issues with his joints? and why was he not allowed to jump?
I am trying to rehab my boy at least into the fall..but by then I may retire him....can I get some more info....

Thanks for the interest. We are located about 30 minutes south of Pittsburgh.
G had x-rays taken about 2 years ago that showed minor arthritic changes in his hocks. He has never been lame on the hocks themselves, but about 3 months after the x-rays were taken he became caught in a metal gate and cut a hind leg badly. He missed the tendons (thank goodness), but due to the stall rest that was required he had a hard time coming back into work. He is sound now except for occasional stiffness that he works out of. He has been in light work for the last 6 months because I was working several jobs. I have started working him more, to get him back into shape and we have not had any lameness with 5 days of work.

Originally I had bought him to be an event horse, but he is just one of those horses that prefers all 4 legs to stay on the ground.
