Thanks for the Kudos but they really belong to Carolyn and Barbara Rice of Ashknollfarm. Carolyn has been fantastic to work with.
The BWP has wonderful people who enjoy working together, this makes it lots of fun. Best wishes!

okggo, I look forward to meeting you and your horses at the keuring.
wf, thank you for kudos, it takes a bit of time to put together, but I think it is worth it when the keuring attendees can find all the information they need in one place. If you ever come out this way I would love to meet up with you, I love meeting fellow breeders.
Definitely have to thank shf; her help has been invaluable.
Will anyone else be coming? It should be a great day.

jumper - I agree with you. As a perfectionist at heart, I put much time and effort into getting my horses (including mares & foals) ready for that "special" day, and really want to be able to focus on it being a positive experience for my horses, regardless of the official results. I hope to be relocating to that area within the next few years, and would enjoy meeting you as well. Good Luck to my fellow BWP breeders, as I am hoping to be at the 1st stop on the tour - in California with my horse(s).

Thanks STF. It is Joshua, who is by Roemer. His stallion preformance requirements are already fulfilled through Prix St. George. He is a lovely 17.0 heavily boned horse, with a lovely temperment. The first day the I saw him, he reached his muzzle toward me for a kiss!

Mr. Dickens will be there, as will Mr. Omni ... how scary! It's going to be the first time the little Dickens goes in front of some sort of judge/inspector ... then he's off to Fair Hill. *gulp*
I guess this'll cure my barn-blindness—'cuz surely nothing else will. :uhoh:

I am not presenting this year but good luck to all. Had I been better organized I could have brought a mare--next year!

I wish I could go, but I can't get off work on Friday. I have a mare that was 'invited' by the judges a couple of years ago and I haven't been able to get her there yet. I hope I hear in time for next year and it's in as an accessible place as Morven Park next year as well.

Thanks, will do. And that mare will be bred but not have a foal at her side so it might be a very good time to bring her. So what happens for mares under saddle? Is it a type of Mare Performance Test? Do they do some sort of dressage work and free jump through a chute like ISR/OLNA and Hanoverian? Can they become Premium or Elite? The one inspection I went to was a couple of years ago and I trailered in a couple of stallions for inspection for a friend. Didn't have time to see what they did with the mares.

There are a few options for mares. BWP mares are eligible for Elite and Select Mare evaluations. Elite mare candidates have to achieve their exterior label (E label), the G label (radiographs), compete (same performance requirements as stallions) and have a foal. Select mares must earn their E label and show undersaddle and through the chute.
Non-BWP mares can be evaluated under saddle. The mares can either perform a test or they can be told what to do by the judges.

Non-BWP mares can be evaluated under saddle. The mares can either perform a test or they can be told what to do by the judges. So no matter how nice a non-BWP mare can never be elite? They're not going to win my membership or breedings with that policy. Did I really understand you correctly?? Even the Dutch will allow this if the mare completes all the requirements. This is a mare they asked me bring.

It was a fun day! We did a general eval on our filly and had our mare inspected, who sadly decided to get her leg caught in lord knows what the day before and was noticably lame. She skinned her hock and a large portion of the inside of her rear cannon. Despite that, they said her conformation was great and she was one of the nicest TBs they had seen. They said they would have liked to pin her higher but she scored lower walk and trot due to lameness. Go figure. I knew she was going to be off, but took a shot in the dark. I'll probably take her back for the MPT to have her upgraded when she is nice and fat and sound :)
Wonderful people!! Nice laid back atmosphere and lovely experience.

It would be nice if some of these registries would give some thought to holding inspections on the weekend. You know, so that people who work might be able to attend. This year there were a couple of Hano and Oldenburg dates on Saturdays, but it seems that almost all inspections/keurings are held during the week.

It would be nice if some of these registries would give some thought to holding inspections on the weekend. You know, so that people who work might be able to attend. This year there were a couple of Hano and Oldenburg dates on Saturdays, but it seems that almost all inspections/keurings are held during the week.
The problem is this, there is only one inspection team. They come from Europe. To do all the BWP keurings takes 19 days. If only weekend days were used that would mean the European team would have to be here 9 weeks in stead of 2.5 weeks. Most of them can't get away from their jobs for that long. Plus the cost of housing and feeding them would become prohibitive.
So as you have observed most of them are held during the week. as there are 5 week days to every 2 weekend days.
Also if the host is having to rent a facility, the availability is greater on weekdays and the cost is less.
But really whether a particular site is on a weekend or week day is just luck of the draw.
I would be great if they all could be on weekends but for the reasons stated above it's just not feasible.
